Status of Ocean Medallion?

When on the Caribbean Princess last month as Platinum members we were given full internet access supposed during the Ocean Medallion (*****) transitional period. Our deck didn't get the ***** but Aloha deck above us did late in the voyage. Typically Platinum members are suppose to be given 250 minutes of free internet usage on the longer cruises, but we were told that Princess has discontinued their minute internet plans, so where does that leave the Platinum members in the future? I wish Princess would communicate a little better with us on such things.

On a December, 2018 cruise on the Emerald, both minute plans and unlimited plans are being offered.

 

Pricing is for 15 days. Platinum/Elite will still get the allowed number of minutes with (as some have posted on other threads) an option to pay to switch to an unlimited package. No details have been posted on what the cost of such a switch would be or for which package.

Kinda sorta. Regal won't actually be in Florida until November. And they have to finish up here on CB (they still have more features to add).

 

but it will be in NY end of sept. They will just send them upto NY. They don't need the whole workforce to work on those added features

I am hoping they work on the ***** system on the regal asap. I kinda want it for my cruise in october

The whole tbing is not working at all right now since we had a power surge while on shore power in Kristiansand Norway today.

Regal is stuck in port and all passengers confined to cabins.

We are waiting to see what happens.

Captain says don't worry as Head Office is working on a fix.

Quick update on Ocean Compass/Ocean Access. I have been trying to add my reservation to Ocean Compass for over a month (sailing on regal 11-11-2018 with the medallion) without success. I have called support about once a week trying to get it fixed and I am always told that they will send my information to tech support and someone will get back to me in a few days to correct the problem. No one has ever contacted me.

 

I called again today, and spent a lot of time on hold and being transferred to the wrong department. The person I finally talked to put me on hold while she contacted tech support (again). She came back on the line and told me that the tech had a question and needed some additional information which I had to give to her and she then put me on hold while she gave the information to tech support. After all of this effort I was told (not by the tech directly but by the agent I was talking to) that OCEAN does not work. It has not worked, and they have no idea when or if it will work. IF they get it to work then they will notify the passengers.

Are you talking about one of the apps that are supposed to work with ocean medallion? I never got mine to work for the cruise I took in August in an ocean medallion cabin.

Basically, no one in the CS department is current on any ***** information. It changes moment to moment. Actually just off the CB and it we got the medallion at embarkation and its just able to open your cabin door, play in the casino..that's it. As of the day before disembarkation the screens in the elevator bank areas were just up and running with limited interaction. No where in your personalizer is any link to it nor are any of the apps working yet. And I believe the Regal/Royal are way far behind the CB

 

I am booked on the Regal for next October, where are you finding the Ocean Compass to input your information? In my personalizer, I see nothing pertaining to it, just the regular personalizer.

Ruby is in dry dock as of today. There was a rumor ***** install was to start, any info?

 

Quite some time ago--over a year, I think--an Ocean Medallion roll-out schedule was published by Princess, and that schedule showed the Ruby Princess as getting the system late 2018 or early 2019. So, it is apparent to me that the plan was to install the infrastructure during this dry dock.

 

However, with the delays of the deployment--it is not fully deployed on any ship, I would be very surprised if the Ruby Princess Ocean Medallion implementation is still on that schedule from over a year ago.

 

I am booked on two upcoming cruises on the Ruby Princess--one in December and one in April. If I am wrong, and I am given medallions, it will be fun to check it out. I have to say, though, that I would prefer not to have to carry around both a medallion and a key card.

Princess gave us a free lanyard to carry around the medallion and the card. I don’t know if they’re still giving them out. That is the only time we have ever used a lanyard. It was much easier that way.

This link is what I was never able to get to work for August cruise on Regal.

 

Now that Princess is handing the Medallions out pierside and likely is never going back to sending them out

ahead of time at $30 per, I suspect the Ocean Compass app will go the way of the Princess@Sea app (not

the webpage on board) as an unneeded waste of time and effort.

On Thursday's CCL Corp conference call with stock analysts, the following was said about the ***** technology:

 

"We achieved a major milestone this quarter in our measured ramp-up of our Ocean platform, having our first full ship, Caribbean Princess, with all guests onboard experiencing Ocean Medallion class cruising. Guest satisfaction scores onboard Caribbean Princess for the period are up substantially and are among the highest in the fleet. We continue to make refinements and add more features while pacing ourselves toward expanding deployment across the Princess fleet."

I am on the Regal in November and was able to get my booking added in and set up. Just need to add the pictures
