We do appreciate every nice gesture and gift. We find it's nice to share the extras. Our daughter's school found good use for the many chess sets; the Chess Club. Extra gifts are great for the fall festivals, too.

You can ask for a free drink. LOL you cannot even get a true free drink anymore. They raised the prices for you drink in the dining room and left the amount you can spend the same.

Remember also what you paid for these FREEEE Gifts. Over 75 cruise days and i paid for everyone of them. So if I want to complain about taking three crusies and getting the same FREEE gift i guess i will. Carnival gives you nothing for free

Carnival owes you nothing. You didn't pay for any of the gifts. Carnival could modify including cancel the program at any time and still owe you nothing.

How about an OBC as a gift, no one would complain, even with a $10 OBC, as the gifts are probably worth around $10

Of course people would complain. I can already hear those who book suites thinking they should get more than those in steerage. Others complain that they think they are worth more than $10. Carnival could give away free cruises and some would complain about having to pay taxes.

Last month the Diamond ,Platinum ,Faster to the Fruit line was longer than the standard line when boarding. Here's a thought instead of a gift ,give the loyal customers extra points.

That way the lines will start to even up again :') Then Carnival can degrade the entire system and demote people back to ??. Oh wait ! That's already happen.

You are probably right as they would then whine that they didn't get a gift they "earned" and how Carnival is going to hell with more cutbacks. ;)

If I remember correctly from your previous posts you have only done a couple of Carnival cruises.

We have done over 30 with Carnival (and have seen lots of changes both good and some not so good) and the platinum gift is something they promised loyal customers quite a few years ago to encourage us frequent cruisers to keep coming back.

Really do not understand why you have belittle those of us who make a suggestion they should allow us to pick from a list of gifts so as to get more value from their gift.

This is cruise critic and I come here to comment on both the good and the bad that Carnival does. If you consider this whining oh well I will continue to post as I have been doing. . .

Honestly, I have to agree with whoever said it upthread that you should NOT be allowed to pick from a list of gifts because you'd end up with the same dadgummed problem. There would be one gift that would end up being super popular and a bunch more that were not in high demand. So the super popular ones would run out quickly, leaving people to gripe that they'd ONLY had the less popular choices to pick from.

I ONLY have 39 more days until I become platinum and start receiving the perks that come with it. I would be more than happy to accept a platinum gift and I'm sure other gold, red or blue cruisers would too. If you choose to give them away, you would be making other cruisers happy and getting rid of the gift out of the stock.

Anyone who thinks a loyalty perk is promised or guaranteed is mistaken. From the horse's mouth

cORRECT ABOUT THE LOYALTY GIFT BRING A GUARANTEE. nEITHER IS TRAVELLING WITH CARNIVAL. nO ONE CHOOSE CARNIVAL FOR THE LOYALTY GIFT I AM SURE. WHEN I STARTED AND MOST OF THE CRUISES I TOOK THERE WAS NO GIFT. IF THEY ARE GOING TO RUN THE PROGRAM THEY SHOULD AT LEAST RUN IT IN A GOOD MANNER. THE GIFT IS THE LAST THING TO WORRY ABOUT, THE SHIPS AND CREWS ARE A LOT MORE IMPORTANT.

On the Horizon Memorial Day Cruise from NYC, we received headphones.

I've stated before on similar threads that if we can use the gift fine, and if we can't we look to give it away. Not a big deal.

But the most useful gifts I've gotten were from the casino on premier cruises, rather than as a plat/diamond.

They believe they do run it in a good manner. I would bet most here do as well.

Some of the gifts have been pretty useful ones. Others like the stationary were filed in the circular file

When we sailed on the Sunshine last Christmas the Roll Call was having a gift exchange and I brought the stationary gift and someone grabbed it right away. I wasn't impressed but they sure were. Go figure!

I would bet that repeat cruisers will not agree .

Hmmmm, who gets these gifts? Newbies? Nope. Would that be plats and diamonds (who are ALL return guests)??

Then I truly hope then can the program for the ungrateful snobs. Is that better? Cruise critic where all the happy people come to play, got to love it.

I'm grateful even if I give away the gift. Anytime Carnival offers a gift, it's appreciated. We like the the chocolate covered strawberries, never have opened the sparkling wine, left a note for the cabin steward to take it. This is why I go with the OBC, everyone gets to use it.
