Sup_Devil Posted March 5, 2019 #2577 Share Posted March 5, 2019 My Haven bids for the 3/7 Epic sailing were rejected but I expected that based on my low bids and the ship being full. I went and reserved an excursion that we've been really wanting to do for a fraction of what I bid on Haven upgrades. Vacation starts today! Thanks for sharing. You were in a regular or haven aft balcony? What kind of penthouse did you get? We are on the same ship on Mar 22 and trying to figure out a good bid for the haven. It is our first NCL.

I put in a whopper of a bid for an Aft Haven.... and got the Penthouse instead. So we are in a Haven Penthouse on deck 16 which is right in the Haven proper.

I went from the Haven Courtyard Penthouse to Haven 2 bedroom Family Villa, still happy, although, I bid $1000 p/p for Deluxe Owners Suite even though it said sold out! I'm surprised a lower bid won!! This just goes to show how random it is! CONGRATULATIONS! VERY happy for you! Enjoy that stunning room, I LOVE it! You are missing a very vital point. You do NOT know, how much this poster paid. Bids acceptance, is going to based on the Total, cruise price. It's brilliant marketing, because, people focus on the bid amount. Completely forgetting to add what they already paid. tigergrl1981 Posted March 6, 2019 #2589 Share Posted March 6, 2019 3/10 Getaway, I paid $1449 originally for a spa balcony room. Bid $610 to upgrade to haven spa suite. Received my accepted upgrade email today. I called ncl yesterday to upgrade directly since they had dropped the price to almost equal what I was bidding. Wouldn’t let me do it and keep my free air to Miami. I understood but was a bit frustrated. Luckily my bid got accepted and I saved a bit of $$.
huntersh2 Posted March 6, 2019 #2590 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Thanks tiger and traveling girl for this great info. Too many people come here for ideas to bud and "forget" to come back to let us know if some of our ideas and numbers worked. Thanks again
FPJC03 Posted March 6, 2019 #2591 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Tigergrl - thanks for the great info. We are on same Getaway 3/10 cruise. Currently in minisuite midship balcony and had bid on Spa Haven and Courtyard Haven at $550 and $600 each respectively. Just increased my spa bid to $620 and courtyard to $650. Hope that is enough to get one of them. THANKS.
koolcat65 Posted March 6, 2019 #2592 Share Posted March 6, 2019 I have a question which I am not sure was addressed yet. I booked my March cruise through Casino's at Sea. I was awarded a "free" room, I honestly can't remember if it was a balcony and I paid to upgrade to MS or if it was just a free MA, based on my previous casino play on my last cruise. I was given the opportunity to bid up and I bid on 5 haven categories. I did pay taxes and port charges for this cruise. What is anyone's experience with winning a bid upgrade. I honestly only bid barely above the minimum for each as that is all I feel would be worth doing. We are 12 days out and there are several who have gotten their upgrades but it's mostly inside to balcony and balcony to MS. I believe one mentioned they got their Haven but not sure what their bid was

The process is not random at all and I don’t believe what you already paid comes into play in the bidding process as that is revenue already on the books. The goal of the Upgrade process is to secure the maximum additional revenue for NCL. You also can’t look at it by just comparing two bids against each other as there is much more that goes into it. A big factor is what type of room is opening up by upgrading a specific person. Example. If two people are both bidding for an upgrade to H9, customer 1 bids a total of $2000 and customer 2 bids a total of $1900. Customer 1 is coming from a BA and Customer 2 is coming from a M9. Customer 2 might get the upgrade over Customer 1 because their original room has more value for someone to upgrade into. It’s all about what chain of upgrades nets the most amount of additional revenue. Good luck to all of you putting in bids.

Murgs Posted March 6, 2019 #2599 Share Posted March 6, 2019 Thanks for you comment Rockfish but my calculations show that that the first three cruises following the refit are the 4th 11th and 18th of May and all three are now less than 80 days
