Alaska Live, July 17th - 27th. Just the tip of the iceberg.

Emmy you have to do it.

How about this sighting from 6am today. She was doing the walk of shame from the night out. Thankfully she’s fixed.

She has hardly moved since last night, I think she’s waiting for somebod! She must be used to it and she knows only 9 or 10 more nights on the town! Suitcase tells the story.

Great review, as always looking forward to more.

Here are a few pics from the final portion of our flight in. The scenery was amazing and with the sun it was spectacular.

I spotted the port of Whittier from above. We sailed out of here in 2004 for our Honeymoon.

A little closer view of Whittier.

When we were almost on the ground I spotted a ship in distance. I knew what it was and the the pineapple behind me chimed in that it was a cruise ship. Lisa and is both laughed to ourselves. I’m not exactly sure what line they sail, but it isn’t my kind of cruise ship.

At the airport we were met by a representative of the tour company. We collected our luggage and headed to the limo.

An leave it to me to find a classic Dodge RT in B5 Blue on the road on the way to the hotel. Beside it was a 911 Porsche. Almost like I got a presidential escort.

We met our guide Patricia at 5pm. She gave us an idea of what our days would be like. She also provided some literature for us, and informed us that our driver would be Christine. We asked a few questions and we were wrapped up in 45 minutes. I forgot to add that our group is the “Lynx” Group.

Tomorrow we have to have our bags in the hall at 6am and the bus leaves at 7:30. That means the alarm is set for 5am. We booked two rooms for the land tour, so Lisa and I are in one and grandma and Owen are in the other. It also helps that we don’t have 4 people trying t9 use one washroom. The Marriott is really nice and I got to use my Marriott Rewards for free wifi as well.

After supper, which was disappointing but I will share with you later on, we went back to the hotel to arrange the luggage VS nap sacks for the day tours. Lisa was in charge of that and I found the local grocery store for apples and water. We dragged some packaged snacks from home but needed to get a few items from here. I included a couple fruit prices for a comparable to home.

The apples were in great shape, so I got them. If you ever saw the movie Sausage Party the food leaving the store might make you laugh. If not, that comment won’t make any sense. Needless to say after the 8 block walk there I decided to Uber it back.

So tomorrow will be here early. Lisa is already asleep and it is 9:40 pm here, which would be 1:40 am at home. I have been up for way too long today with no sleep on the plane so I am calling it a night.

Tomorrow we travel by glass dome rail car and bus for a few hundred miles with a stop in Talkeetna and ending in Denali. Watch for photos and info as cellular provides.

I’ll leave you with one last photo tonight. I snapped this one of our plane after we departed Vancouver. We were right over the Vancouver cruise port. We will disembark there a week Friday.

See you all in the morning. I can’t wait to see more of Alaska tomorrow.

Funny that you kicked this off with a mention of Northern Exposure. I was on a mission a few days ago to find it online somewhere and binge watch the whole thing again. Not available on Netflix, not on Amazon Prime, no where to be found. I read somewhere that there may be a dispute over rights to the music used in the series keeping it from being available. Love NE and would very much like to watch it again.

Have a great cruise. Alaska is on our list and I'm looking forward to seeing it through the eyes of your family.

I also tried and failed, thanks for the conformation.

I hope you get warm weather and are able to post pictures of everyone wearing shorts! I'm trying to convince my DH that he will not be completely frozen if we go there. Since we moved to Florida, we have become those people I always said I'd never become. You know who I mean - those people who think it's freezing out when the temperature drops to around 80°F! I want him to see that it is warm enough to wear shorts in Alaska, I'm just not going to mention that you're Canadian! Just one tiny detail.......

For those looking for episodes of Northern Exposure I bet you can get box sets on Amazon. I have the first season at home on the soon to be antiquated DVD, which was once available for purchase at Best Buy.

One of our stops today, Talkeetna, is the town that Roslyn was based upon.

My alarm just went off. It’s shower time.

Just leave that detail out. ;)

Glad to hear you liked the Marriott. And that beef dip sandwich....it looked wonderful!!

Lisa said it was amazing. Moist and delicious. Not bad for a restaurant affiliated with the Vancouver Canucks.

We stayed at the Marriott in 2010 when we took our AK trip on =X= Millennium.

In the morning we could see Denali from our window :)

Take a look.

We will look. We saw it on the flight in, and we will see it today.

I'm so excited to be reading your daily posts. We will be on the Aug. 17th southbound Radiance and taking pre cruise tour 5B. My biggest challenge is going to be getting the bags out at 6 am! I'll be interested to see how accessible wifi will be for you. Is that what you use to post? I'll be following and thank you in advance for all your efforts!

Caught up and following along! Everyone is correct- what an entertaining review already. Really easy and fun to read. Great pics!

Viewer request: You should have your son do a guest post - would like his POV for some of your adventures. :)
