cdowskma Posted July 19, 2018 #178 Share Posted July 19, 2018 Wow! I’m following your trip review. My DH and I will be making the southbound RCCL cruise in a few weeks. We didn’t have enough vacation time to do the land portion. Looking forward to your excursion reviews. Did you purchase the excursions prior to leaving home or book them once on the ship? Are they all through RCCL? Thanks for the info, Carla
maureencruiser Posted July 19, 2018 #179 Share Posted July 19, 2018 I’ll leave you with one last photo tonight. I snapped this one of our plane after we departed Vancouver. We were right over the Vancouver cruise port. We will disembark there a week Friday. I'm confused.:confused: How did you take this picture?:confused:

This should help, and I do have Andrew's permission to stretch the truth a bit if necessary! ;p Mount Denali from the train. They say you see it 30% of the time. This looks to me like Denali is floating in the sky! Amazing picture, Andrew! Can't wait to see more!

Keep up the great work [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Thank-you. It’s late but I’m trooping on. Your review is awesome! My SIL, nieces and nephews are on your tour. You are allowing me to travel with them, albeit long-distance. I’ll be making my 7th trip north in a couple of weeks! Definitely hooked on Alaska. No kidding. We have two large groups in our bus. One is from the Chicago area and the other from Boston-ish area. Wow! I’m following your trip review. My DH and I will be making the southbound RCCL cruise in a few weeks. Are they all through RCCL? Thanks for the info, Carla I can report about those as they happen. We did book our shore excursions through RC. Andrew Just catching up. Rare A&L_Ont Posted July 19, 2018 Author #184 Share Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) We had a quick dinner and watched some musicians. This is all on the resort. The Assay station. Rare A&L_Ont Posted July 19, 2018 Author #185 Share Posted July 19, 2018 We stopped Talkeetna for lunch and I did a couple of periscopes from there. I snapped a few more photos and thought I’d share them. The small town of 800 people had a rustic and hippie flavour. I didn’t smell any Patchouli but I did get the occasional wafting smell of marijuana in the air. They say it is a small town of unique individuals, and I’d say I found one in this guy. This store might not help him, or maybe it does? I looked, but I could not find Patrick Swayze. Pucker up big boy.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted July 19, 2018 Author #186 Share Posted July 19, 2018 After Talkeetna we stopped at the Alaskan’s Veterans Memorial on the way to Denali. A very peaceful place, very suiting of what it represents.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted July 19, 2018 Author #187 Share Posted July 19, 2018 And then we saw a bear on the side of the road. A few our us called it out, and Christine our driver did a 180 Green Machine power slide and whipped us right back around to the spot. Out guide Patricia didn’t believe it, until she saw it. We turned the buss around in the originally attended direction and stopped on the side of the road to discover that it was actually.... a large moose. That being said we were lucky to spot it doing 65 mph down the highway. It was still an interesting find. That being said, don’t trust the moose. Awe, come on. If Owen got to be kissed by a moose why can’t I. Followed by a game of pet her twins? Where is the fairness in the world. ;)
Rare A&L_Ont Posted July 19, 2018 Author #188 Share Posted July 19, 2018 So that leeds us to tonight’s trip out. I will only share a few pics now, as I’d want to put together a video and post it here later. After our quick supper we picked up by Temsco Helicopters Inc, for a chopper ride with a 20 minute glacier landing. Now in your worst Arnold Schwarzenegger accent repeated the following three times over. “Get to the Choppa!” I hope to get the video done as soon as possible. Owen drinking from the glacier. They called it “The Glacial Facial”. It didn’t take ten years off his age, but there are some women. that swear by facials, just not this type. I did it but Lisa and Sharon both passed on the GF spa treatment.
Rare A&L_Ont Posted July 19, 2018 Author #189 Share Posted July 19, 2018 These late nights and early mornings are like some sort of mental hunger games. So that’s it for tonight. It is almost midnight and my alarm is set for early tomorrow. Hope you enjoyed the day’s journey and let’s see what we can get up to tomorrow. This is what it looks like at 11:52 pm. aimee0803 Posted July 19, 2018 #199 Share Posted July 19, 2018 I'm here, too! We were unable to fit in a land tour portion this year, so I am taking notes and enjoying all of the pictures. :) Look at that sunrise and sunset time. Ignore the temps, it is early in the day. As the Worst Floridian Ever, I would honestly LOVE if it was in the 40's and 50's. Since we go in late August/early September, I'm hoping the highs don't go too far above 60.
