aaaaa Posted July 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Would there be a preference for a port or starboard cabin for a Greek Isles trip beginning in Rome and ending in Venice? Thanks!
Sir PMP Posted July 20, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2018 No, ship parks different ways in Mykonos, Rhodes, Piraeus, Heraklion. Santorini is tender, maybe there would starboard a bit better etc.
CruiserBruce Posted July 20, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Doesn't matter. There is no one magic spot to see the sights.

lastlook Posted July 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2018 In the case of Venice, I would prefer starboard for an arrival.
wales4ever Posted July 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted July 20, 2018 When your at sea, all you see is water - it does not matter what bit of water you see.......
catl331 Posted July 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Ending in Venice the view will be on the starboard side, but you have to be up early to see it. In other ports if your cabin is on the "wrong" side you just have to go to a public area for the view.

Thanks!A Starboard side balcony is perfect for the sail in to Venice which is easily the nicest sail in and well worth sitting on your balcony around 5 am to see.For the other ports including departure from Civitavechia there is no advantage in a particular side of the ship

lastlook Posted July 21, 2018 #13 Share Posted July 21, 2018 Some cruises that end in Venice, arrive in the afternoon and then spend that night in port with passengers disembarking the following day. An example of this is the 12 day Greek Odyssey. Others arrive in the wee hours of the morning and passengers disembark that day. I've been fortunate to experience a late afternoon departure, an early morning arrival, and an afternoon arrival - all memorable.
ger_77 Posted July 21, 2018 #14 Share Posted July 21, 2018 The first time we sailed out of Venice we had clear skies and wonderful views from the port side. Last year we left in pea-soup thick fog that left us with absolutely nothing to see. Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)

Stratheden Posted July 21, 2018 #17 Share Posted July 21, 2018 If you are arriving in Venice in the middle of the day as we did, you definitely want starboard. It was the best sail in I have ever been on.
grapau27 Posted July 23, 2018 #18 Share Posted July 23, 2018 Oops, you're absolutely correct - my error! Disregard what I said.Smooth Sailing! :) :) :) No problem. We have sailed Venice return several times and always booked a port side balcony because the sail out of Venice is spectacular. Last time on Splendour on our return to Venice we were up early and sailed past our pre cruise hotel Hilton Molina Stucky.
