We are on the Eqinox in October and booked our first suite to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. I was excited at the opportunity for a suite, but now I’m over the moon thrilled! We can’t wait for the “suite life”......hope it doesn’t totally spoil us for future cruises! Thank you so much for your review and pictures!

We have GE as well. We checked and confirmed with the porter that there is no separate GE kiosk setup at the Celebrity pier in POM; even though they have signs for them

While there is no Global Entry line, those with GE are able to go to the front of the line

Was there a separate line through customs for the porters? When we were on the Eq in October, a separate line wasn’t available for the porters. I thought that was weird, how many guests could they possibly help if they had to spend 45 minutes waiting in line for each customer? I had never seen a port where the porters didn’t have a special line.

On the flip slide, Jole was our Michael’s Club Concierge. The morning we departed two people were escorting guests off the ship. We were escorted past everyone in line to the luggage carousels. We split from the group there because someone in our party had a difficult time finding his luggage. It appeared she escorted some of the guests (the ones who were walking off their luggage) directly to a short customs line. We hired a porter, but had to wait in the loooong line. Miami was by far the most chaotic port I have experienced.

I think it depends on the port. We were on Reflection out of FLL in March. Went to MC and concierge opened back door and took us to the head of the line to the escalator. At the bottom of the escalator we hired a porter. He went to Suites luggage area and picked up our luggage. Then escorted us through customs (we have nexus) When we got outside there must have been 100 ppl waiting for a cab. He wheeled our luggage through the lines directly to a cab and loaded it in the trunk. From MC to the cab was less than 15 mins. Tipped the porter. Best $20 I've ever spent in my life!

Pnsnkr, thanks so much for your well written review. We will be on this same cruise in December. As with you, we will be in our first suite, so all your food pictures and comments hit a cord.

Am interest in your opinion and review of the suite you had with pictures, issues, balcony size, aft location and etc. I think that you were going to write about it and I may have missed it if you did.

Thanks

My review of the cabin is spread out across multiple posts. To summarize, it is a standard S2 cabin with a standard size balcony but is fully covered by the overhang from the OCV outdoor seatings. We did hear chairs scraping in the morning hours and the occasional tapping/knocking noise especially on port days. This didn't bother us much but it might be too much for a light sleeper. We really enjoyed the extra room and the plentiful storage space. The bathroo m was also roomy with a bathtub, but we prefer a spacious shower stall to a tub. Being aft, the views are expansive and gorgeous; it's a decent walk to get anywhere on the ship; and very quiet due to little or no traffic.

We just got off from an S2 on the side, we were below the indoor seating and maybe the kitchen, I'm not sure about the latter. We occasionally heard some noise, but nothing loud at all.

I'm also in an S2 on the Eclipse in January, and one night last week we talked to a buffet manager about what was below, and he thought our choices will be fine.

Well, what a disappointment.......NOT your amazing and extensively delicious reviews, but that it's OVER!!! ;);)

Now, what do I do?!?! We are booking this itinerary again for July, and it will be our 3rd time on the Equinox.

Looking forward to it, and your hard work has only made me hungry!!! ;)

Yea, tell me about it. We are also looking to expand our horizons and so have been looking at Oceania.

You are welcome. It was hardly any work, really. I really enjoyed writing the review as much as I did the cruise; and, it got us to reminisce.

I do also have a question when we were on the infinity in April in a suite they did offer lunch in Tuscan grille a couple days is that something you saw on the calendar? sorry if I missed it in your review

I'm booked on the same cruise December 15, 2018. I also have an aft cabin on the Sky deck. I've heard some complaints about having black ash on the deck from the smoke stack and I' wondering if you noticed any? Also- a quick question about tipping, if you don't mind. You wrote that you left a customary tip each night after dinner. Do you do this for all the wait staff at each meal? Do you hand it to the main waiter who served you or leave it on the table? I realize that tipping is a personal matter and it sounds like you had exemplary service that deserved additional gratuity. When you look at what Celebrity charges passengers daily for gratuity, you know the staff is being underpaid. I agree in additional tipping and I'm just wondering what is the most tactful, classy way to do it. Thank you!

Specialty restaurants typically offer lunch on sea days, though not all of them on the same day. I'm sorry we didn't pay much attention to lunch offerings on sea days during this cruise, thanks to Luminae.

We mostly had gentle cross-winds and so no soot. On the flip side, the air was a bit stagnant in the aft and so we didn't spend as much time on the balcony as we would have liked. Moreover, the balcony was fully covered from the OCV outdoor seating overhang from above. I'd be surprised if this deck sees much soot.

You are right, tipping is a personal preference and it is not really required nor actively sought. That said, we are tippers. We tip for every transaction and give extra for great service. We usually leave the tip on the table at the restaurants and hand over the tip money along with our seapass cards at other venues such as the Cafe or the bars.

and also took our request to clean out the mini-bar and stock it with soda and beer from our beverage package.

Can everyone with a beverage package request this, or is it only suite passengers?

Everyone can request to clean out the mini-bar. However, I don't think they are supposed to stock them with beer, soda, and water unless in the RS and above suites. Our butler was kind enough to oblige. When traveling in regular staterooms, we would request the mini-bar to be cleaned out and replenish it ourselves with water on a beverage package.

Enjoyed your trip report immensely. Quick question re MC....is there a cooler where we can access bottles of water and cans of soda. Coffee machine? Thanks.

Thank you. We didn't see any cooler on the Equinox MC. Apparently, this is only available on a few select ships.

  • 9 months later...

Thank You so much for your exceptional review! Of the 16 cruises we have taken, the Equinox next April will be our first on a Celebrity ship. Not only that, but we are booked into 2155 as well!

The detailed information you painstakingly provided will be a great help with our research and planning.

Best regards

Bob
