Rare John&LaLa Posted August 6, 2018 #501 Share Posted August 6, 2018 I was 58. My first cruise was for my high school 40th reunion and then I was hooked. Never been Sea sick. Love a rocking ship. I used to charter fishing boats and saw 20’ seas in the Gulf Stream making runs to Walkers Cay Sent from my iPhone using Forums I'm still 55, for two more hours. Sent from my SM-G920P using Forums mobile app No I did put off cruising because of motion sickness as a passenger in coaches and trains.Getting my cruise legs actually cured the motion sickness. Rare island lady Posted August 6, 2018 #510 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Blizzard it appears you have given me the key. I am not retired yet. Clearly I need to get that accomplished ASAP. It is blocking my ability to increase my C&A status. Congrats on finishing the race. I blame my parents for not taking me cruising as a kid and jump starting the process. We did not start cruising with RCI until 2005...on my "half century" birthday. No parents offered help to get to the points I have either....drats. ;) :D Nor did I have inherited status from significant other/spouse. ;)

TYMAN Posted August 6, 2018 #512 Share Posted August 6, 2018 We started in 1992 on the Nordic Empress. Had 20 cruises under us before Tyler was born. His first cruise was in '99, he was 2-1/2, on the Big Red Boat, and now he's been on 39 total. That gives DW & I 59 cruises together. 60 is in three weeks from Sunday! rt1092 Posted August 6, 2018 #515 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Happy Birthday John. For my wife's birthday Royal really outdid them selves. On the Harmony 07/07/18 sailing. First we were in the top 3 cruisers so they had a ceremony during the top tier party. And they gave her a large cake with "Happy Birthday Patricia" on it. Complete with pictures. Then they made a "cake" for her in Johnny Rockets (where we ate breakfast every day), out of 3 pancakes and whipped cream. Plus they did they cake and sing in the Coastal Kitchen for her. Already planning to book the Harmony next year in July. But have to wait till April 1 for one of our free Casino Royale cruises
TYMAN Posted August 6, 2018 #516 Share Posted August 6, 2018 How many with Royal? Sent from my iPhone using Forums 38 w/ RCCL. 3star w/ HAL and quite a few Celebrity & Disney (when the kid was younger). We did a bunch of NCL back in the 90/s also. Remember the SS Norway? Fun ship...laid out by the aft pool all day, thought I got a great tan till I took a shower, it was soot from the smoke stacks! lol! Did the Seaward half a dozen times too. Tyler continues to buy watches so he could use your beautiful bride's help with that. :-) I believe the Oasis will be going out of Barcelona for a few weeks next September, we're looking at that for our 25th. There or Ovation to Hawaii......

MichaelCMTX Posted August 8, 2018 #525 Share Posted August 8, 2018 I never wear a pin and maybe because I have grey receeding hair no one questions me being in the DL just like I don't question other people's validity in being in there. I realize I let this one sit for a couple days but had to weigh in. We're on the younger-than-that side but always book a suite. I've got shoulder-length, "assisted"-blonde hair and figure I own enough musical equipment that if I can't be a rock star, I'm allowed to dress like one. Once on boarding day we hit the CL and this group of 3 older couples stop me and actually ask if I'm someone from a band, because they're not up with who is "somebody" now. It DID briefly occur to me to throw out "Yep, I play Bass in (random 80s band touring with only one original member)" just to see if I could keep the charade up for the week. But they never questioned my credentials for entry. ;) As I've learned from my trips in the NASCAR Garage area: acting like you belong saves you a lot of trouble.
