Blondie0428 Posted July 29, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2018 I am looking into booking a cruise in June or July of 2019 and my family wanted to depart from NYC. When I do a search for it on the Carnival website NYC cruises are not available after September of this year. Is Carnival not going to be sailing out of NYC anymore? Rare shof515 Posted July 29, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2018 Carnival is sailing out of NYC next year. In June, there is a 10 day carnival journey cruise and then does the usually 8 day cruises to the Caribbean. in September, the ship goes up north to Canada currently, the reservation system is offline as it is being updated. that update should be finish by Monday. beachnsnowbunny Posted July 29, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2018 We have 2 New York sailings booked in 2019 on Triumph. They took all sailings down yesterday and said they will be back up Tuesday. They are updating the ship deck plans as the Ship is getting a big revolution in dry dock next spring.
Micahs Grandad Posted July 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2018 They only sail out of NY during limited times never during the winter months. Also they use older ships while competition uses much newer ones.

NCL only sails from two places in the US to the Caribbean and a limited number of ships (half of which are new(er)). Because they sail year round from New York they get priority on sone stuff. Carnival has almost 20 ships from 10 ports and puts their new builds in those lucrative markets. Luckily, we got Horizon in New York for a season and the west coast gets the next new ship. Woodfaerie Posted July 30, 2018 #15 Share Posted July 30, 2018 I wish we could go back to the days when the Miracle sailed out of NYC. Loved that ship.

Not to mention Royal Caribbean sailing the Anthem of the Seas across the river out of Bayonne. Outside of the current summer season, Carnival has certainly been sending it's old ladies out of NYC the last decade.
evandbob Posted July 30, 2018 #17 Share Posted July 30, 2018 What is the break even to get a quote like that? Was the Sunshine ok, how about the Splendor? Sent from my iPhone using Forums No and No. While I've sailed the Conquest class the most, I'm starting to put that class ship in the same category (old) as the Fantasy class. It takes a hard to resist casino fare offer to get me on Carnival's oldest ships. I'm sailing the Miracle again after 10 years only for the casino come-ons. I may look to sail only the Dream and Vista class with Carnival, and book other lines for their various new ships as well. There are so many choices available, may as well experience as many as I can, rather than repeat the same old on ships I was hesitant to sail 10 years ago. JMO and YMMV. my3sonsnj Posted July 30, 2018 #18 Share Posted July 30, 2018 NCL only sails from two places in the US to the Caribbean That may have been true awhile ago but NCL is now doing Caribbean itineraries from 7 ports: Boston, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Port Canaveral, Tampa & Puerto Rico. I'd like to try Carnival out of NYC or Cape Liberty but the ships Carnival is sending to the area are not appealing in comparison to NCL's Breakaway/Escape or RCI's Anthem. Also, the fact that NCL's pricing includes a drink package (or another choice) and is on par with Carnival's pricing without a drink package makes it hard to give Carnival a try. I much prefer Norwegian's 12 year old Gem.
Rare shof515 Posted July 30, 2018 #20 Share Posted July 30, 2018 Vista last summer. Vista only did 2 cruise out of NYC in 2016. One cruise was a round trip cruise to the Caribbean, the other cruise was a repostition cruise.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums I cruised twice on Splendor out of NYC. Once on a 7 day September Canada/New England and once to the 8 day January Florida/Bahamas. Giantfan13 Posted July 30, 2018 #22 Share Posted July 30, 2018 We also sailed the Splendor out of NY several years ago in February. Fact is, we sailed out in a blizzard. They had 12 inches of snow on all the decks and we could go outside for 2 days. Loved it anyway as we did get away from all that snow and cold. Over 300 people missed the ship as the airports were closed. They caught up 3 days later in Port Canaveral. Cheers Len
