Say, today is hubby's birthday. Any way to score OBC? We leave on the Ruby Princess to Alaska on the 11th.

You could always call them up with a credit card and deposit OBC onto your ship account ahead of time. I have never seen Princess give birthday OBC out of the kindness of their heart.

If you mark your Personalizer that you’re celebrating his birthday as an event, you’ll get a poster on your cabin door and a special dessert in the dining room. Can’t remember if you get balloons or not.

 

You can always ask but chances are between zip and zero that you’ll get OBC. Way too many people celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, etc. on a cruise.

You don't get OBC if your birthday is while you are on the ship. Why would you get it because your birthday is 2 weeks before you are cruising? Guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

No, not from Princess. Your T.A. may already be providing you with an on board gift, for example a bottle of wine. If so, ask them to have the gift card made out as a birthday gift.

Our son-in-law, on his first Princess cruise (Ruby Princess first week in July) and celebrating his birthday, didn't receive the balloons or poster although others did but we chalked that up to our steward. He did receive the birthday cake at dinner in the traditional dining and a note in the cabin with a $25 (or maybe $20, I don't remember) non-refundable credit to use in the ship's stores. We have celebrated birthdays on board before and this was a first for us.
