Tabbymom Posted August 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 31, 2018 OK knowledgeable PV experts - HAL has added a new excursion in Puerto Vallarta. It's called "Exclusive Beach Resort Getaway". Not much real detail - it's 25 minutes north of the pier ("travel in air conditioned comfort" so I guess a bus) on miles of soft, sandy beach. Two huge swimming pools, Jacuzzis, waterslides, etc. One pool for adults only (not clear if this is a third pool). Lunch, drinks, kayaks, and boogie boards included (no snorkeling). There are no reviews yet so I think it's brand new. I called the HAL excursion desk and the rep said she'd email me if she got any more details. So Name That Resort! (I don't know the area so no idea how many might fit the description.)
CruiserBruce Posted August 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 31, 2018 That would be Nuevo Vallarta. There are probably 10 resorts on the beach there, and a couple set back from the beach. Hard to say which is being described in this excursion.
Tabbymom Posted August 31, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted August 31, 2018 Thanks, I’ll have to hope HAL gets back to me. I really don’t want to go somewhere that unclear. I understand some of those resorts are time share and although I doubt HAL would set up an excursion thst includes a sales pitch, one never knows. CruiserBruce Posted August 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 31, 2018 I seriously doubt HAL would go to a time share presentation. Even if a resort they use is a time share.
tonit964 Posted August 31, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 31, 2018 It could be Paradise Village. They have a waterslide and a couple of pools. It looks like a nice resort.
riffatsea Posted September 1, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 1, 2018 They will not send you to a time share presentation! Not sure how the name of the resort will help you decide. I don't do resort days when I cruise but the description sounds nice. This excursion on the Carnival web site sounds like the same place. There are a bunch of positive reviews here: https://www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/puerto-vallarta/exclusive-resort-getaway-305045# They say it is the Hyatt Ziva
Tabbymom Posted September 1, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted September 1, 2018 (edited) Thanks so much riff, I’m sure you’re right! Identical description and of course Carnival owns HAL. It sounds delightful - I love swim up bars! Edit - although come to think of it, looks like the Hyatt is south of the pier, not north, and doesn't have slides. Hmmm...I may have to call HAL again. Or look at Princess excursions to see if it's there too. Yup, there it is but no reviews. Edited September 1, 2018 by Tabbymom
riffatsea Posted September 1, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 1, 2018 Really a mystery?? If you want that sort of relaxing day I'd just try it as it can't really be terrible!
i retired in 2015 Posted September 1, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 1, 2018 I have booked this excursion with HAL also. I am sure this will be in Nuervo Vallerta, as north of the town. I stayed there for a week a few years ago, beach was beautiful, so I guess it will be a surprise.
Tabbymom Posted September 4, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted September 4, 2018 Just confirmed with HAL that it is the Hyatt Ziva; she has no idea why the description says north of the port.
