teknoge3k Posted September 3, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2018 I LOVE the cove balconies. I would much rather have a cove than a balcony on another floor.
bury me at sea Posted September 3, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2018 Anywhere forward of mid- ship elevators up to several cabins prior to atrium. I liked ours even more than the aft-extended. Felt roomy, slightly sheltered from wind, partial shade most of the day, not to mention being so close to the water. Happy sailing.

CruiseMomTX Posted September 3, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2018 We love a cove balcony. When you come back from a long day at port its a quick walk up to your cabin! It's close to the water also.
Ron_L Posted September 3, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 3, 2018 We loved ours on the Breeze and have another one booked on the Horizon in December!
SCcruiser123 Posted September 3, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2018 Had cove balcony on two cruises and loved them So close to the water so you actually feel like you're on a ship. I will always choose a cove balcony if the ship offers them.

cmichael1279 Posted September 3, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 3, 2018 I love them - especially in the middle of the night - so peaceful to sit out there right along the water line and relax
maggiepie11 Posted September 3, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 3, 2018 The are pros and cons like with most decisions. :) I enjoy the cove balcony's proximity to the water... the waves are really peaceful. As someone else mentioned it's a nice location to access when in port. I also find that it feels just a little bit more private from neighbors than a typical balcony. The cons for me are that the proximity to water all but ensures you and all your belongings and furniture are constantly wet or damp from the ocean mist. If you book a balcony to have your own private place to tan, there is less sun because of the shape of the cove opening. Aaaaand you need to be very cautious to book a choice that's not under the galley. I've never slept less than I did the week we were under the galley. k_y30 Posted September 3, 2018 #13 Share Posted September 3, 2018 Easily one of my favorite balcony experiences was the cove. Being 10-15 feet from the water was surreal. Never had any issues with smell/noise in our room. If anything, I'm worried about our vista aft balcony coming up, sometimes the smell emanating from the back of the ship is noxious
Dwtlcambre Posted September 3, 2018 #14 Share Posted September 3, 2018 We have had coves on every ship that offers them and love, love, love them. Very close to water, only one level down to get off at ports, on level up for meals in dining area, 2 up for shows in theater. This way if elevator is taking to long you dont have far to the take stairs if needed. The cove balconys are also very private compared to regular balconies. ronandannette Posted September 3, 2018 #15 Share Posted September 3, 2018 We didn’t care for ours, but it seems like we’re in the minority here. Hmmm, we've ended up with one on a GTY for our Breeze cruise next week. I'm skeptical, especially of being down in the bowels of Deck 2, so far away from all the public spaces. It's going to take an awful lot of up-and-downing to get through the days. What specific issues did you have? ... Aaaaand you need to be very cautious to book a choice that's not under the galley. I've never slept less than I did the week we were under the galley. We are under the galley, although just barely. We've got 2342, which seems to be at the very front, port-side of the galley just at the mid-ship elevators. What do you think the noise will be like up there? applegam Posted September 3, 2018 #16 Share Posted September 3, 2018 Have been in room 2258 literally 3 times. Would much rather have a cove balcony then a regular balcony. Also don’t have to worry about someone under you smoking. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
bandjwayne Posted September 4, 2018 #17 Share Posted September 4, 2018 Debating about booking cove balcony....experiences? We had a cove balcony room on the Vista. The room was right across from the family lounge which was great & the water views were nice, but the room was SO loud at night. Banging from the floor above kept me awake every night:( Sent from my iPad using Forums
English-Greg Posted September 4, 2018 #18 Share Posted September 4, 2018 We love them and would choose every time. Last cruise on the Breeze was not so great though. We were right towards the front and they had an issue with the sewage tank. The smell was unbearable and we had to be moved to a cove mid ship. I don’t think they got it sorted until back in Galveston as we started to smell it again later in the week. Would still not put me off though! nealstuber Posted September 5, 2018 #19 Share Posted September 5, 2018 We also love the coves and have done them on all 3 Dream class ships, FWD, MID and AFT. The mist mentioned was a slight issue Forward, galley noise a slightly bigger issue aft, but mid was just right. We will not sail the Dream class ships without one, and it’s probably the only way we will sail the Vista when she comes to Galveston. While the Lido is a ways off, one flight up for dinner is nice and easy trip down from the casino. With the pools so small on the Dream Class ships, we’d rather enjoy the outside more privately on our balcony, not saying we never venture topside, but we enjoy the convenience of belong closer to the MDRs, showroom and everything else on the promenade. Rare mexicobob Posted September 5, 2018 #21 Share Posted September 5, 2018 Loved the only cove balcony we have been on. That will always be my first choice. It seemed the ones toward the front got some spray.
burnsrod1 Posted September 5, 2018 #22 Share Posted September 5, 2018 Love the cove balcony. So nice and peaceful late and night and early morning and also get great views of the sunrise and sunsets. Have had cove balcony on Magic x2, Breeze and have one on the Vista in 15 days. Cove over any other level anyday. Can also occasionally catch glimpses of flying fish. JenOBRNC Posted September 5, 2018 #23 Share Posted September 5, 2018 They're great as long as you are not beneath the galley like we were. And the last 2 days the sewage smell was unbearable.
PhotoMike Posted September 5, 2018 #24 Share Posted September 5, 2018 Had cove balcony 2306 on the Vista & it was great. This particular cabin has no lifeboat hanging above it, so there was an unobstructed view of the sky. We booked this same cabin on the Panorama for 2020 too. amysb Posted September 5, 2018 #25 Share Posted September 5, 2018 We didn’t care for ours, but it seems like we’re in the minority here. I, too, am in the minority. The cove balcony was great during the day, but the amount of light pouring down from the promenade deck above you kept the balcony almost bright as day all night. I much prefer higher up, and a dark balcony at night to see the stars a bit better.
