sixesandeights Posted September 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2018 I am going on my second Carnival Cruise in about 45 days on the Conquest. What shows are running currently on the Conquest? Are they good? What are the best locations for night time entertainment? Thanks for the help! 6&
sixesandeights Posted September 12, 2018 Author #2 Share Posted September 12, 2018 Is entertainment something that is not discussed on the Carnival board? It is a constant topic on all other lines boards......are there no shows on Carnival?
evandbob Posted September 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2018 I stick to the comedy shows. As a repeat cruiser, I don't find any new or interesting theater entertainment on the Conquest class ships.
Donh44 Posted September 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2018 Is entertainment something that is not discussed on the Carnival board? It is a constant topic on all other lines boards......are there no shows on Carnival? I know no reason for not discussing the shows on here. I have been on 9 Carnival cruises and the shows have always been fantastic. I will be on the same cruise that you are going on and, I am sure, that we won't be disappointed. There is always the Welcoming show on the first night and then the big show usually the second night and smaller versions as the cruise progresses. Being an 8 day cruise, there might even be 2 big shows. Hope you (and I) have a great time.

For example, if I was sailing on the NCL Escape I would have reservations to a few shows at this point. I would know exactly what shows were going to be playing. I can't seem to find that information for Carnival. 6&
Lee Cruiser Posted September 14, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2018 We leave on the Conquest on the 23rd. I'll try to remember to come back and share some thoughts about the shows.

A&Jfamily Posted September 14, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Carnival doesn’t do reservations for shows. We never have a problem just walking in and sitting down - but we don’t mine 2nd or 3rd level. We have seen most every show and whether they are good or not depends on the quality of the singers on board. You will find everything from production shows like Motown to family game shows like Hasbro if memory serves. Love and marriage can be funny. But as with many, we prefer the comedy club for our nightly entertainment. Piano bar is a runner-up, depending on the performer. People don’t chose Carnival for the shows...they are far more known for comedy. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

PhillyFan33579 Posted September 14, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Conquest class ships usually have a band or some other kind of musician playing in the lobby area every night. In my opinion these ships have the best lobby areas of any class of ship and we usually spend a lot of time listening to music there at night. Of course some bands/musicians are better than others. On our last cruise on Liberty, we spent a lot of time in the lobby listening to a band called Powerline, who were phenomenal.
Rare jimbo5544 Posted September 14, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 14, 2018 They are rolling out violin players that perform in the main atrium before dinner. While this sounds boring they play different types of music including rock songs. It is great. The production shows on the two newest ships are among the best we have ever seen, and in MHO better than b rated musicals on the competition. sixesandeights Posted September 14, 2018 Author #12 Share Posted September 14, 2018 So....sounds like there are not really shows on the Conquest.....this is very disappointing...coming from other lines that have live music, comedy, dueling piano, etc nightly I don't understand what there is to do each night now.....hoping we didn't make a mistake trying Carnival. lennythenose Posted September 14, 2018 #13 Share Posted September 14, 2018 I’m sorry you have been given the wrong impression. There definitely are shows on the Conquest. My cruise isn’t until January so I can’t speak from personal experience but here is a link to Funtimes I was able to find. Not sure it’s the same itinerary as you but you should at least have these shows. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=56863016&highlight=Conquest#post56863016

When they first started with these thought they were mostly awful. They are improving and a couple such as Epic rock and 88 keys are rather good. I do like the string trios they have been having on their ships lately. Go to a show like Encore on Princess and you will probably be blown away. They are that good. Not sure what answer gave you that impression but there are tons of things going on at night. There will be some show in the theater every night, be it a song and dance production to the giant family Hasbro games to adult audience participation in Love and Marriage. You also have the option of the piano bar - which can be great fun with a giant sing along. Then probably 4 nights you will have comedy in the club. And also every night you will have movies on deck. That doesn’t count the bars, Casino and whatever party/disco event of the night. There is truly something to suit everyone and any mood. dcherry Posted September 14, 2018 #19 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Was on the Conquest end of June/early July. Plenty of entertainment to be found, in fact, we spent several times running from one to catch the next in a different area of the ship. If they still have the same two female production show singers from my cruise, you will be completely wowed. Can't remember the last time I heard such phenomenal singing and I really couldn't decide which of the two had a better voice. I thought is so odd that Carnival would put two such talented singers on the same ship.
richfret Posted September 15, 2018 #20 Share Posted September 15, 2018 The theater shows are certainly nothing like they were several years ago. They are OK but nothing to brag about. They basically are made for the younger generation with loud (No lets make that excessively loud) music for an audience that sometimes is all retiree. The background wall is turned into a 3D screen that can be amazing at times but I thought we came to see a performance. Then there are the lights. At times blinding to the point you have to turn your head. The costumes are mostly plain with few changes. The performers are usually very good who do their best for their audience but you need a good planned show to start with. I know this sounds negative and but actually that is the way it is now. I have been on 21 Carnival cruises and can say that there is no comparison now a days to the past shows. I still go, however, but don't applaud for several minutes like I use to. I like the shows but do not brag about them when I return from a cruise. Given 3 or 4 shows on a cruise. I wish Carnival would do 2 old fashion shows and the remainder in the modern fashion for the younger generation. Maybe the problem is that I am just getting old and turning into a fuddy duddy. Oh well, have cruises booked for 2019 and 2020 so it can't be that bad.

Hopefully it will be the same night they have a comedian on so we will have someplace else to be. Hasbro is great for kids and should be put on as afternoon entertainment for adult and most older adults pathetic. We will be on the Conquest next month and hopefully they will have a good piano bar entertainer and comedians.
FloridaGirl1972 Posted September 25, 2018 #22 Share Posted September 25, 2018 I was just on the Conquest at the beginning of September. Oddly enough, the main reason we went on this cruise was because of the entertainment! A return performer we saw on a cruise we took 3 years ago was finishing out his contract and we were lucy enough to catch him 2 weeks before his contract was up! We LOVE the Playlist Live Productions. We were on a shorter cruise (5 days) so we only saw 3 shows which were: 80s Pop, Heart of Soul, and one of my 2 favorites, Flick!! Our favorite is Epic Rock, which they are doing, however it was not on our cruise. We like to get there early and try and get in the 3rd or 4th row. Yes there are other shows such as Hasbro Game Show and one not to miss is the Love and Marriage Show. I realize they are not everyone's cup of tea, but the Playlist shows are our absolute favorite as we love to sing along and enjoy live entertainment. Hope you have a great time on your cruise! brookeq Posted September 25, 2018 #23 Share Posted September 25, 2018 I have the fun times from our Carnival Conquest Cruise posted in my review (see the link in my signature) We didn't make it to the shows on our short cruise. The show i wanted to see was cancelled due to rough seas. We did see the Lip Sync battle the last night. That was fun. We watched the love and Marriage show (like old newly wed game on TV). It was funny. We really enjoyed the violin group every night. Three girls played all sorts of popular songs (there is a video in my review also). We went to see them every time. I think they are on the Dream now. But hopefully the ship got some others to play.
