Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted September 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2018 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=168 when we were in Aruba, we went to the butterfly place and then just crossed the street to some hotel (it's on Eagle beach) - the loungers were free, lots of palm trees and shade, the water was great, the beach was great, bathrooms were available, everything was clean and shiny. The hotel personnel told us that all the beaches in Aruba are public and free to use, including the lounge chairs.
schmeed Posted September 12, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 12, 2018 We are going to Aruba in a month. I've started researching options and there is a cool site "Resort for a Day" that you can buy day passes to resorts with nice beaches and amenities. Kind of pricey, but they look nice. Like I said - we just walked through the hotel to the beach and the beach and loungers were free.

Obviously, your choice/finances, but beaches in Aruba are all free and open to the public. Palm Beach is the area in front of the high rise major hotels - plenty of restaurants. You don't need to buy a pass for the beach.

Going to Aruba (for us) means swimming in the ocean. It is absolutely glorious, could swim for hours and hours.

Extra Kim Posted September 14, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Just take the bus, a cross the street from the port, and get off by the casino. Then just walk through the complex and you will have a fantastic beach. You can take the bus all the way to the high rise area if you like. The buses are clean, have AC and run often. I would never take a taxi on Aruba if I wanted to got to the beach. Baby beach is overrated and very far if you only gonna spend one day. We have spent two weeks on Aruba plus two cruise stops. Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted September 14, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 14, 2018 Did you take a cab/bus to the "butterfly place," or walk? oh, it was definitely not a walking distance, but it was a very quick ride. We liked the butterflies and the lecture, although it may not have been worth the price. But we enjoyed it. DS also enjoyed the koi/tilapia fish pond, and we got several great photo opportunities. The hotel across it was very nice, but we didn't use it for anything. Just walked through it and to a gorgeous beach.
