floridacruiser14 Posted October 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 7, 2018 We are booked o n Navigator of the Seas for Nov 18 and would like to change to Oasis of the Seas for Nov 18. Just got off the phone with RCL resolution specialist who states we're unable to change because we're last final payment date. The problem that I have with this is the cruise reservation receipt shows $100 per person charge to change ship or sail date but no mention that this needs to be done prior to final payment. Has anyone changed ship and/or sail date after final payment.
RI_Cruiser Posted October 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Its always been that way as far I remember. Final payment has different terms.
Ken at the beach Posted October 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 7, 2018 At the bottom of your guest booking invoice it shows the cancellation penalties that range from $100 before final payment to loss of deposit, 25% per guest, 50% per guest up to 100% per guest depending on how many days away from sailing you are. payitforward Posted October 7, 2018 #7 Share Posted October 7, 2018 As the others have said, the $100 change fee is only for the DEPOSIT. As you get closer to sailing, the penalties increase. Once past final payment, you're usually facing a 100% penalty.

vision14k Posted October 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted October 7, 2018 I was able to change from Mariner to Oasis about 2-3 weeks before sailing, but it took hours on the phone, and finding the right person. By no means was it easy.
floridacruiser14 Posted October 7, 2018 Author #11 Share Posted October 7, 2018 I know it won't be easy. Who did you speak with?
cruisinfanatic Posted October 7, 2018 #12 Share Posted October 7, 2018 I know it won't be easy. Who did you speak with? More to that story I'm sure. You can't change ships without huge $$$ loss
Biker19 Posted October 7, 2018 #13 Share Posted October 7, 2018 I know it won't be easy. Who did you speak with? It doesn't matter, you just need to keep calling and hoping you get someone who can do something and not be charged a lot of $$$. Sounds like you are in the 50% penalty phase. The ability to do it may also depend on inventory between the two ships.

vision14k Posted October 7, 2018 #16 Share Posted October 7, 2018 More to that story I'm sure. You can't change ships without huge $$$ loss There’s nothing more, I wanted to change to a 7 day cruise from 4. Obviously I had to pay more for the difference, but I paid no penalties. Like I said, it just took a lot of persistence and work.

Rare JessyCruises Posted October 7, 2018 #21 Share Posted October 7, 2018 I did this last year. We switched from the Oasis to the Allure I think about a week before sailing. I had a good excuse though - there was a huge group on the cruise that I had just found out about. The new cruise was a little cheaper. I think I actually got a small refund. This was a cruise booked through the casino. Sent from my iPad using Forums

I just noticed a credit on my card after a few days. ]
ma23peas Posted October 7, 2018 #24 Share Posted October 7, 2018 They want your money, their customer service reps have a knowledge base of 1 up to a 10. Sounds like you hit a “1”, keep calling until you hit a “10”

Once past final payment, you're usually facing a 100% penalty. This isn't correct. Lost of 100% is only in the last 14 days before. Once past final payment there is a schedule that starts with lost of deposit, then 50%, next 75% and finally 100% of cruise fare for cancelling 14 days or less before. Taxes and port fees are always refunded even for a no show.
