Jareds_mommytoo Posted October 30, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2018 When we were on Disney kids were allowed in one of the lounges until 9, what is the policy on HAL?
mdjohn5 Posted October 30, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2018 Not sure what the official policy is, but there are relatively few kids on the average HA cruise. Other than the casino, I don't think they would throw kids out of a venue unless they were causing an issue. But maybe others have had a different experience. Jareds_mommytoo Posted October 30, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted October 30, 2018 We have booked during spring break for a shorter cruise, we are told there would probably be more kids then normal on those cruises.
Rare Roz Posted October 30, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 30, 2018 I've seen kids in bars and lounges on HAL. As long as they're with an adult it's OK. Don't know if there's a time restriction. Roz
catl331 Posted October 30, 2018 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2018 Back when there were Northern Lights lounges on Vista ships I think under 18 had to leave at 11:00, but that's the only time limits I recall having heard about.
mdjohn5 Posted October 30, 2018 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2018 Spring Break last year (7 days on Niewe Amsterdam) we had just over 100 kids on the ship (mine are 7 and 9 yo). That's the most we have ever seen on a HAL ship. More kids is all relative (no pun intended!) :)
RuthC Posted October 30, 2018 #7 Share Posted October 30, 2018 Last I knew for certain is that kids are allowed in lounges, but are not allowed to sit at the bar. This may or may not still be the case. I have seen kids in lounges---playing and running around the dance floor when people were trying to dance. Rare 1of4 Posted October 30, 2018 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2018 We always took our two to happy hour when we attended. We usually received rolled eyes and a few rude comments as we walked in. But as they sat and ordered their (nonalcoholic) drinks and we interacted with HAL staff and we laughed and kept to ourselves we usually had people come over and comment how lovely it was to see a family enjoying the cruise. As far as I know, children are not allowed to order alcohol until they are 21, not allowed at the sea view pool unless supervised until 18 but if there is a complaint (even if the under 18 is better behaved than the complainer) an officer will request you use the lido pool, and not allowed in the casino. Generally we found that HAL loves well behaved children and the staff love to interact with them. With the exception of the sea view pool, the rules are common sense. Club Hal runs from 7:00 to 10:30 (I think) so my kids just loved attending the evening programs so were never interested in what we were doing! Jareds_mommytoo Posted October 30, 2018 Author #9 Share Posted October 30, 2018 Thanks, ours are 17 and 14. Hopefully they will meet up with other teens like past cruises then it won’t be an issue, we won’t be cool enough to hang with. Lol
Rare 1of4 Posted October 30, 2018 #10 Share Posted October 30, 2018 (edited) The Loft doesn’t have a firm closing time. That is the hangout for 13-18 year olds. Edited October 30, 2018 by 1of4
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 30, 2018 #11 Share Posted October 30, 2018 We have seen children sitting at the tables both in the Crow's Nest and Ocean Bar on many ships -- with their parents. I have never heard of a time limit as to when they had to be out of the lounges.
