uvasag Posted November 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2018 Still in the planning stages but my family might be visiting Australia in June/July 2019. I believe that is prime whale season. Can someone suggest a good whale watching tour? I think a smaller boat will offer a better experience. While they all go to the same place in the ocean I think small boats get closer than bigger boats while keeping the required distance from the whale. Please and thank you. GUT2407 Posted November 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 10, 2018 I’m not sure Sydney is the best place to do a whale watching tour. but I’ve heard people talk of one at Darling Harbour, think it’s called whale watch shop. But try google.

Rare gogo65 Posted November 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted November 10, 2018 We have a boat and go out whale watching. the big boats tend to get out of the heads quicker and tend to go further out, while the smaller boats will take longer to get there. however we always noticed that the bigger boats do 2 trips a day, so maybe 9-12 then head back in and pick up another group from say 2-5. The time in between 12-2 is perfect, only a few small boats hanging around, everyone is very polite and people tend to make large circles around them, whereas all the big boats act it’s like a race, pushing and shoving. this is just our observation on a private boat trying to enjoy some whale watching... hope that helps 😊
