Hi,

we will stop in Phuket in March, it will be tender port. We do not have privileged tender so

How long could it take to get ashore, I am figuring 2 hours, is that enough

what is around the tender area, can we walk to the temple and or old town.

Do local take us $ or do I need Thai currency

thank you. Diane

As previously stated, the usual anchorage is off of Patong beach, at a temporary jetty (they take it down for the monsoon season) which may or may not show up on Google Maps or Google Earth. You will need Thai baht for spending money. According to the  TripAdvisor forums,  it's easy to find both ATMs and Currency Exchange kiosks within a block or so on the beach front road. As for transportation into Phuket and independent sight seeing, I'd check out the TripAdvisor  forum.
