San Juan

We will be in San Juan on Christmas Eve.  I’m thinking must things will be closed for the holiday.  Maybe a stay on ship day?

We are also booked on this cruise. The shore excursion section has quite a few options to choose from.

We’re mostly interested in the free shuttle.  We plan on taking the shuttle to the forts and walking back through Old Town.  We’re worried that the shuttle won’t be running.

This is a tourist area around the fort and Old Town - all will be open so you can spend money and they can buy XMAS presents and send their kids to college too.

The Forts will be open on Christmas Eve.

the stores in Old Town were open on the holidays.  Enjoy your cruise

Rollie - You will be fine! And, make sure to stroll around the area that takes you around the outside of Old San Juan - toward the Red Door. The Christmas decorations are wonderful! Enjoy!

I believe San Juan, with plenty of Roman Catholics, does celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas in addition to Jan 6 and most of the time between 12/25-1/6.   Because they are still suffering from the economic impact of the hurricane tourist stores will likely be open.   You will also have the opportunity of attending midnight mass usually starting around 11 pm.

According to the National Park Service website, the forts will be open for normal hours Christmas Eve.  I would guess the stores will be open, but may close earlier than normal (but this is just my guess).
