What really irks me are the perks they give for the casino perks.  They get much more than loyal Carnival customers!

That shouldn’t surprise you, since there is a significant financial difference between casino perks and Carnival perks. If you are cruising for perks, Carnival is definitely not the cruise line for you.

You have to consider that Casino players spend (translate to "lose" ) more money than passengers just paying for their cabins.  No matter what perks Casino players get, they still put out a lot of money to get those perks.

Sorry, guess I don't understand.

Same benefit on NCL as CCL, but $250 kicks in with 14 day on CCL and 15 on NCL.

I own both.

Dear gtaylor,

AS I had posted, " Yes as in the 10K ( Annual) . Carnival and all the lines owned do have a great advantage. "

A 10K is the Annual Report. CCK :NYSE / LSEW CUK :NYSE Owns all the Ships on all of the Lines they own too.

So yes with the Carnival Shareholder Benefit with holding only one hundred common shares allows them to issue you a/this  Shareholder benefit for any and all Cruises they own , each and everytime . If it is one time a year and/or 52 times each year, or moire.

I certainly know what a 10K is, but we don't receive any free dinner as an NCL shareholder benefit.

AS I posted, we receive either $100 or $250 depending on length of cruise.

And as I inferred, I have positions in NCL.H and substantial holdings in CUK and CCL as investments.

Were you hoping for the “expensive” lanyard?

No, it broke before I left the ship.  I have done 20 cruises exclusively on Carnival.  Most are very nice.  The lanyard is cute, but cheaply made, maybe that is how I should have expressed it.

I still can’t believe that someone in corporate approved something so cheap as the lanyard for a platinum/diamond gift. That kills your brand image. Take better care of your most loyal customers. Don’t insult them. It cost far less to retain a current customer than it does to create a new one. It would be far better to recycle popular past platinum/diamond gifts than to give them something as cheap as a lanyard. Giving a free, no strings attached, use any time, alcoholic beverage coupon would always be acceptable to me as well.

Well, all my Premier casino lanyards have broken after being used a few times.

Know what you get on MSC?  A "fruit basket" with a couple of apples, a banana, a pear, and an orange.  Like you can't get any fruit on the ship, right?

I honestly don't understand the gripes about Platinum gifts.  They're gifts, people!  As many Plat folks as there are now, do you honestly believe you're going to get anything that's worth the effort of bringing it home?

As a shareholder, I'd rather Carnival just forgot the cheapo gifts and spent their money elsewhere!

I got the little backpack thing last cruise.  Thought I might use it on my MSC cruise a couple of weeks ago and simply couldn't figure out how the silly straps were supposed to work.  Left it at home.  I should've given it to some kid when I got it because I'll never use it.

Honestly, the only gifts I've ever used are the Tervis tumblers (and I didn't actually need a half dozen, but at least they're high quality so I gave most away) and a cobalt-blue coffee mug.  Oh, and a little bag that I use to bring my lunch to work (got it years ago).

Can't wait until October when I'm Diamond to see how luxurious my "VIFP Club luggage tag set" turns out to be! 😁

It will certainly not be the best or most favorite gift.  You expressed it just fine😁

Actually they would argue the opposite.  All this was ever meant to be was something that had a Carnival logo on it that would be used/worn by their clients.  To show the opposite view (which I agree with) see post 62.

It doesn’t surprise me when you consider Carnival markets themselves to the new and inexperienced cruisers. I think their perfect cruise is a ship filled with blue and red cards, which is why they don’t put too much focus on their most loyal passengers, which is reflected with the limited perks provided to Platinums and Diamonds. Carnival would easily survive even if every D&P decided to no longer cruise on Carnival. The only impact this would likely have is journey cruises may not sell well and maybe they would have to sell a few of their older ships.

Platinum gifts I liked:  Tervis tumblers, binoculars, coffee mug, little backpack.  All of these  things advertised for Carnival when I used them.

Lanyard -- I don't wear my card around my neck.   My CC lanyard is better quality.  Not the smartest marketing move on Carnival's part.

We are on the Carnival Valor now, we got lanyards.

When I posted this picture, I didn't do it being ungrateful or disappointed. I have a lanyard with some bling-bling that I really like  but my husband wore this lanyard while we were onboard, he likes it. We certainly don't cruise for the Platinum gifts, so many other perks come with being Platinum that we enjoy that we will continue to cruise with Carnival....like I never want to wait in long embarkation/debarkation lines!!! 😉 People getting upset and throwing Carnival under the bus over a gift they don't like? Really? I cruise because it is a relaxing vacation for me, not for the gifts! Cruise on.....

Was not planning on saying anymore on this subject, but I am disappointed  Not ungrateful.  We have done over 26 cruises with Carnival over 25 years. Always several cabins.  Probably have spent over $100,000.  If carnival is hurting just stop the platinum gifts.  They always gave ok gifts.  It was always fun to be surprised.  The lanyard was cheaper than anyone they sold in their gift shop and to me personally took as a slap to the face.  We do enjoy all the other benefits however.  Having said this, we just booked another Carnival cruise on the Panorama next year.  Also am stockholder which is really a great program for onboard credits on all their lines.  I am sending our lanyards to the President of Carnival Cruise Lines, Christine Duffy and telling her to go ahead and recycle.  They probably need the money.

What’s worse is I achieved Platinum on our 4 day this month.  I was shocked at the lanyards but thought maybe because it was a 4 day cruise.  I didn’t even get the strawberry plate 😩

Dear cbcruiser,

Thank You.

Yes. As a shareholder even if one hundred and/or one million shares it is vital in any public tarded firm for all owners to express themselves as well .

Proving paltry gifts is kinda like the Treaty of NonSuch .

I'm in the camp that the gift is just a token and I couldn't care less what it is. It's nice to get something. We have a bunch of different things from the years, and they just sit in the closet anyway. My issue with the lanyard is that it is just plain ugly. We'll just continue to use our not-as-ugly "Behind The Fun" tour lanyards.

Never saw disappointment only with a combo of your last two statements....looks like ungrateful and snarky to me, but it is your cruise.  For the record money spent has zero to do with it.  I can far outweigh you on cruises and money spent, but the point is moot, all plats and diamonds count the same, you may not like that but it is a fact.

Those lanyards remind me of the ones the photo department gave out when you bought so many pictures.  They gave you a punch card and each time you reached a level, they gave you a gift.  A lanyard, a tumbler, a memory card that looks like a ship, etc.  I have two or three of them that we never used because it was too hard getting your card in and out of them.
