Any noise issues with connecting rooms?

I had a connecting room with a dear friend who is 85 on the Konigsdam.  We kept the door cracked to allow access in case of emergency.  She watched movies most of the night and even with the door cracked the sound was minimal.

On Nieuw Statendam, we had a connecting balcony stateroom on deck 11.  We did hear our neighbours on occasion.

Thank you Vict0riann for the info. I really enjoyed your "live" during the inaugural sailing.

We heard everything in the next cabin with a connecting door on the Koningsdam.  This included coughing, talking, television, spoons stirring in cups.  I would never book a connecting room again!

This was our experience also.  We would never get a connecting room again.  Regarding loosing closet space, while that may be an issue on another ship, that wouldn't be on this one as the door is closer to the window than the hallway (which is where the closets are located).  What you won't get is a couch.  You'll only get a chair.

Wow - that's a terrible design!  It sounds like the connecting door is right smack in the area you'd be sleeping in, so you're far more likely to hear noise from neighbors than you would if the door was out by the hallway entrance.  I'll continue to avoid connecting staterooms at all cost!  Thanks for clarifying the location on Koningsdam.

I appreciate everyone’s input. It seems that YMMV is the rule here. Although a bit of noise may be a distraction, I’d take a connecting cabin over an obstructed view, any day.

I paid for a VH, and ended up with a VD. No worries 🤡

Please reports back with your own experiences!

It is interesting how varied other people's experiences have been.
