Any US or Canadian Residents Sail CroisiEurope?

I know this is an old topic, but we did sail on CroisiEurope.  We sailed from Paris to Chardonnay.  There were no French passengers on our "barge".  We had 16 guests from USA, Australia, New Zealand and I believe England.  Our crew were all amazing.  We had the Captain (who we met when he was helping to load our luggage onto the barge).  We had his first mate, the Cruise Director, the Dining room server and the maid.  Each and every one of the 5 of them helped each other as needed.   English was the only language spoken - and the only one needed.  This was one of the most fun trips we've ever taken.

The cabins are tiny, but who cares!  We spent our time in the beautiful and cozy lounge or in the big dining room or up on the huge deck.  There was a hot tub also.  The smallness of the group made it very enjoyable.  We ate at one large table that was set in a large rectangle, 3 people on each end and 5 people on each side. This made conversations very easy and many times included the entire table.

The food was beyond amazing.  Buffet breakfast with special order eggs & omelets.  Lunch was at least 4 courses and dinner was probably 7 courses.  All gourmet food with different wines for each course.  Lots of wonderful cheese also.  They went above and beyond for me because I am gluten intolerant.  The ports were small French villages.  There was a tour at each stop and each tour was different from the others.  We went through several locks and the canals are narrow enough that we could see and wave to folks on shore.  They had bikes for use at each port.  We traveled by day and anchored at night in small towns.  We could have walked in the towns, but most chose to stay onboard and visit.  

The cost of the cruise was all-inclusive.  No charges for tours or meals or wine or booze.  I don't remember what we did about gratuities.  It may have been included also - or if not, we all gave a nice amount for each one.

The hostess had fun games that we played - even those of us who swore we hated games!

On the last day, we were shown a video that had been made during our cruise.  It was another fun activity.

We would like to book another Barge Cruise, but haven't found the one we want that fits into our schedule.  If at all possible, we will book with CroisiEurope again.

Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience on Croisi, Judy. Sounds like you really had a good time. I've noticed that Road Scholar uses Croisi for a lot of their barge and river cruises.  They get good reviews.

I would just like to mention that I'm not sure a barge experience would be the same as a larger cruise ship regarding language. For 16 people they obviously can't have more than one tour group, so they may market the sailings separately for English and French speakers.

Our last trip with Croisi was Berlin-Amesterdam, labeled an English speaking trip.  It was, but there were only 14 English speakers on board. The remaining 50 or so pax were French.  We did have our own tables and English speaking guides , no  eating with different folks at dinner.  Did enjoy the ports and sailing in a new part of Germany. Roz, I think it was you who said you sail solo?  Did you ever find out about how they handle single supplements?   After cruising with GCT and Uniworld, I’d like to try Croisi too.

It appears Croisi charges a reasonable single supplement.  For instance, I was looking at a 6-day cruise for $1,632 and the single supplement is $571.

Happy to see so much discussion about our cruise line, and just wanted to chime in on a few points you are discussing:

 

For language on board, we operate these days in French and English on all departures.  Fleetwide, about half of our guests remain French, but we have growing markets across Europe, North America, and worldwide.  So each year, our international clientele grows.  If you have concerns about language, speak to your travel agent or one of our cruise specialists when choosing your itinerary.

 

Our single supplements:  Our single supplement as a default tends to be close to 30% of the cruise fare, well below the industry norm of 50%.  But, before paying that, consider this:  Most of our ships offer single specific cabins, which come with no single supplement.  And, we have frequent promotions where single supplements are waived on particular sailings.

Again, I'd say speak to our cruise specialists - they can help you find a cruise that fits for you.
