Carnival Pride balcony partitions

Request is as soon as you board.  They use clamps to hold the divider to the railing and the number of clamps are limited. 

 

It used to be you could just request it from your cabin steward.  On all of the ships that we've been on lately, you had to go to Guest Services to request it and one person from each cabin had to go there at the same time.

Not all dividers can be opened. You can check here to see if there are any limitations on the dividers between your particular cabins. Occasionally there are small doors between them. When we had 3 cabins on Glory one partition swung open (towards the window) and one partition had a small door to open.

On the Pride they swing out to the railing.  We have done this many times on the Pride.   Only one time did they take the partition away as we complained through our travel agent about being told no more clamps.  We had 6 cabins in a row.

You are comparing apples and oranges.  Pride is a Spirit class ship and balcony dividers operate totally differently from Conquest class ships.  This is what the balcony partitions look like when open:
