Bar Harbor tours and Lobster

We will be in Bar Harbor in June and are looking at tours of Acadia and would also like to include a Lobster lunch.  It sounds like the working Lobster Pounds are a bit further away and we may need a full day tour to fit it all in.  Any recommendations for the best place for lobster and the best way to see all that we can?

Glad you posted this.  I have the same query.  We'll also be in Bar Harbor in June and hoping to find some good lobster not too far from the cruise dock.  Also hoping to find some good NE Clam Chowder while docked in Boston Harbor.

Unless you're coming to Portland as well, you'll miss out on the best chowder in New England, Gilbert's Chowder House, and Becky's Diner has the best lobster rolls.  Close to the cruise terminal in Boston is Yankee Lobster, which does a good lobster and chowder, but it can be wicked crowded at peak times.

Are Gilbert's and Becky's in Portland or Boston?

We stopped in Bar Harbor twice in 2017 while on a B2B itinerary.  We found a lovely restaurant  -- 59 Cottage (located on Cottage Street!).  Excellent lobster.  They are only half a block off of the main "tourist drag."  Not as touristy as some of the other restaurants, and both times we dined there we seemed to be the only non-locals.  Also wonderful blueberry sangria.

I've been to Becky's in Portland and highly recommend the chowder. It's about a ten minute walk along the waterfront making a left as you leave the dock. In Boston, Yankee Seafood in just three minutes from the terminal. Their lobster Mac and cheese is great. Call ahead for a game out, there is not many tables.
