Hi all,

We are fairly new to cruising and have only sailed once before on the Eclipse. We have a cruise booked for October on the Silly. We have cabin 7229 and I am now a little concerned it maybe noisy as very near the elevator. Anyone had any experience of this cabin.

You will actually be nowhere near the elevator as it is separated by a very good soundproof divider (floor to ceiling) and will have to walk towards 7239 or 7221 to be open to the elevator vestibule and even at that, they have glass doors separating the elevators and hallway.  You are in a perfect location and will experience zero noise from the elevators.  Your only worry will be a very noisy neighbor but the rooms are pretty soundproof so probably not even that.

Only concern I would have is that smoking is on deck 5 port side and that is where you are located and could come right up to your location.

They will not be affected by the smoking area on deck 5 - 2 decks below them and towards the aft of their room!

It will be quiet. We often stay near the elevators, but as was said, the elevators are not directly in the hallway with the rooms, but are separated by a wall and by electric doors. No worries. A great site for room information is www.cruisedeckplans.com. It's a TA website but has a free section with great deck plans for all the cruise lines and ships. You can also use the tool to drag one deck onto another to see what will be directly above and below you. There are also red and green stars in various places. If you hover over those it will give you additional information about those cabin locations.
