Bob said it best - tender, flavorful and the roll is good too. Bread always makes the sandwich. Just make sure they are not cutting from the ends, it can be a bit fatty. But they always have a fresh beef standing by. The good severs will know when to switch (or you can just ask). And should you ever have 4 of them in the later afternoon, then the snack just became an early dinner. 😮

#1cruiseaholic Posted March 26, 2019 #107 Share Posted March 26, 2019 Just fyi Carl and I also enjoy the roast beef sandwiches often at the Solarium. They are a takeoff of a roast beef on kimmelweck from Buffalo NY. Known for great roast beef on a hard Kaiser roll with salt and caraway seeds. Great! Now I am ready for lunch and it is only 10:30.

Now, if we could get Royal to offer them in the evenings, for a night time snack!! I might never leave Park Café!

Cru1s1ng2009 Posted March 26, 2019 #114 Share Posted March 26, 2019 foodie here! breakfast in the WJ:french toast, bran muffins, and oatmeal (not in one sitting) I used to love the tutti salad but it seems to have less and less offerings as the years go by. I prefer to just make my own in the WJ now. Dinner: onion tart, FO soup, and the cod. I cant wait to go back!

OceanBlue123 Posted April 23, 2019 #119 Share Posted April 23, 2019 Savory Bites? We followed the advice on this thread during our recent Anthem cruise and made a special request for Savory Bites in the MDR. Our waiter told us he would have to check, but that at least one other table had made the same request earlier in the cruise and the kitchen was able to make it for them. We felt so special when the next night Savory Bites were delivered to our table. They looked a little plain. Small, wedge shaped bread with poppy seeds. We took a bite and, huh? Chewy yes, but in a familiar not so great sort of way. We tried again and had to think but then we saw it. Savory Bites are nothing more than old bagels! They are not sliced the normal way, but rather cut into about 10 wedge shaped slices (like a pie) and then toasted. No wonder they so often serve poppy seed as they are probably most likely to be left over each morning after breakfast. So there you go. Now you too can make authentic RCI Savory Bites at home.

Nado44 Posted April 23, 2019 #123 Share Posted April 23, 2019 On our recent March cruise aboard Grandeur from Baltimore, the Kummelwreck sandwich was available at the Park Cafe on maybe only 2 out of 6 days. Turkey and pork loin were served on the other days.
lowbass Posted April 23, 2019 #124 Share Posted April 23, 2019 We recently returned from our first Royal cruise. We were on Allure doing the 7 night Eastern cruise. The first day seafood Paella in the WJ was a big hit for me. The Escargot in the MDR was a surprise hit. Also the creamy mushroom soup was a favorite too. I also got to try the famous, "KUMMELWECK" sandwich. I'll just say that I was less than impressed. I think the roast beef could have used some Au jus to give it some flavor and moisture. I only went once. Hot dogs at the hot dog stand were good. And the pizza was very good for a late night snack. One thing that we didn't understand was the location of the free ice cream. On Allure the ice cream was on deck 15 by the pools? You have the free pizza on deck 5. The 24hr Promenade cafe' on deck 5. But they put the free ice cream on deck 15? It's almost like they wanted to discourage you from getting the ice cream late at night.
