General sea conditions - YVR to HNL?

Ok....  I fully realize that sea conditions can vary greatly (weather-based) on any given cruise, but what was your experience sailing in September from Vancouver to Honolulu?

Calm?  Smooth?   Following?   Choppy?   Rolling?    WT***?!!

I did this cruise in 2015, and we had relatively calm seas.

A little cold and windy the first few days.

We've done Vancouver to Honolulu 7 times and it was like being on a lake. Best part it starts off cool but just keeps getting better every day until you arrive in Hilo.

What about the reverse?  Honolulu to Vancouver in October? Oct 3-Oct 13

We only have done this route once and it coincided with the aftermath of a cyclone, so it was quite bumpy for about two days out of Vancouver.  After that it was quite smooth.

We will be doing the reverse again in April.  We have done this 3 or 4 times and it has always been smooth but it does get a little colder as you approach Vancouver particularly in April.

We live in Hawaii so our preference is YVR to HNL. Weatherize to me it's better going from cold to warm and the April run would be quite a contrast as cold and rainy is prevalent that time of year in Vancouver's "Temperate Rainforest" climate. 40 degrees F and rain is not temperate to me.

Thanks but we are going in October for our 30th anniversary. We are going to Honolulu 2 days early.   I guess we will just get acclimated to Michigan weather  on our way back!

We've done it both ways, like glass on the Honolulu to Vancouver route and a bit choppy for a day or so going the other way but nothing bad. A girlfriend has done this route in February and it was AWFUL. They missed a port because of being delayed a day crossing. They had to slow right down

On our last cruise talked to the Captains Club hostess about this very question.  She said the seas do have a tendency to be rocky, at least as compared to the Caribbean.

No doubt this is true compared to the Caribbean...  there's definitely more current in the Pacific.  I'm glad to hear the southbound itinerary may be smooth.

We did that in September 2014 from Vancouver to Honolulu and 3 of the 5 days of crossing were very rocky....I didn't have a problem with that but a lot of people had..
