If it’s refunded to the CC couldn’t AMEX take back their credit?

I thought the same thing.

Best plan might be to use it in the casino and run it though.  Charge to your cabin and then cash in at the cage afterwards.

Think at that point it would just be easier buy $500 in casino chips on the AMEX and cash out as a previous poster mentioned.

Perhaps, but I figured that I would be using some of the $500 OBC on other things anyway (like tours, drinks, tips, etc.).

My cruise was already fully paid for with my Visa, so I just bought OBC with my Am Ex.  Figured that whatever we did not use of the $500 would be credited to my Visa (which is the card I have on file with HAL).  Is this correct?

I agree.  I think that any unused OBC would be credited back to whatever credit card you have given HAL to use for your shipboard account.

See my prior post.    Buy $500 in casino chips.    Amex will credit you $100.   When you get on board go to the casino cashier and they will give you $500 cold cash.  No strings attached.

Do I have to buy the $500 in casino chips before I get on the ship?

Can someone please post the link?  Many thanks.   I don't get the notice but can usually add the promo to my card when I use the link.

By the way you can purchase $500 in Casino Chips as well.    The casino will give you $500 cash when you get on board.

Where do you get the Casino Chips?  I logged into my HAL account and can't find Casino chips.

I have no clue (except for of course buying them on the ship). I was going to call AMEX or HAL tomorrow to see how I can use this promo.

Thanks to all for the input on this.  I charged $500 to OBC last Friday and the $100 credit showed up on Monday!  Love free money!

Did you buy it online or go through your TA/PCC?

I'm not the person that you asked, but I previously did this and went through my TA.

I purchased the OBC through the HAL website after I added the promo to my Amex card.

Thank you for your responses!  This is excellent news.

Just bought it through the Holland America website,  Logged into my account and then my upcoming cruise.  It was under GIFTS.

Thanks Dave.  It is good to know that Amex is now honoring online purchases in addition to reservation payments as this was previously not the case.

This Cruise Critic website and its members are the best!  I have a gold AMEX card that I do auto pay on, so I barely ever look at the bills.  Thanks to some great people on this thread, I was able to go in using the link provided here, load this on my card, then go to HAL and buy $500 worth of casino credit for our cruise.  I didn't even know offers like this existed, but thanks to you guys, I was able to get it. Like others have said I can take the cash and either deposit it directly into the slot machines I play, or keep some of it for souvenier shopping and I am saving $100!

My name is HappiestWhenCrusing, but I'm even happier when I'm saving money!!!$$$  Thanks again everyone!
