let's go cruising Posted March 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2019 I booked our first Dream class cruise for January 2020 on the Magic. We are really excited! We've sailed exclusively on Conquest Class until now. I have booked cabin 9216 because I read all about how to avoid smoke and people looking into your balcony. That was wonderful advice to get!!! Now, I am hoping to learn about this class of ship and what we have to look forward to. Thanks, Cruise Critic Community ❤️
Butterbean1000 Posted March 3, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2019 We sailed on the Magic last year. You are going to love it. Our favorite was the Cloud 9 spa. We bought a spa pass and made good use of it. We also enjoyed the set up of the Ocean Plaza. Red Frog Pub and Alchemy are right there. Big enough not to feel crowded and not too big to be overwhelmed.
Rare SRQbeachgirl Posted March 3, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2019 We loved the Magic so much last year that we booked the Breeze for our upcoming cruise. One of my favorite places on the ship was Deck 11 looking down on the main Lido pool. There are great padded wicker chairs with padded ottomans for relaxing in the shade. You can see the ocean, while at the same time watch the activity on the Lido Deck without being in the middle of the craziness. The Cloud 9 Thermal Suite is really nice. Spring for the pass if you can. There are lots of tucked-away places to sit and relax, both inside and outside. The Promenade deck goes all the way around the ship and is great for taking a leisurely after-dinner stroll. The Dream-class seems like the perfect size--not too big and not too small. Easy to get around, plenty to do, and still feels like a ship, rather than a floating amusement park. 1

Micahs Grandad Posted March 4, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 4, 2019 Best class they have done. Very large space for trivia and cover band, and comedy club. IMHO went downhill quickly after this.
lcpagejr Posted March 4, 2019 #7 Share Posted March 4, 2019 IMO....the best ship class of the fleet. We are Platinum and have cruised on all class ships including the Vista class....and our best cruise on Carnival was on the Breeze in 2015.... Had alot of great stuff like waterworks area for kids and outside seating and eating/drinking on Promenade deck.... The wow factor was great when ships first came out...now other class (Vista) has followed a similar deck plan...but still my favorite ship and class of ship
PhillyFan33579 Posted March 4, 2019 #8 Share Posted March 4, 2019 In my opinion the Dream class ships are Carnvial’s best ships due to the layout, the amenities, and that I have never felt crowded on a Dream class ship. Unfortunately everything they did right was not repeated on Vista class ships, which aren’t even in my top three classes of Carnival ships.

BoDidly Posted March 4, 2019 #10 Share Posted March 4, 2019 I agree Dream class has become my favorite ship class. Just wish they would bring back those Icey machines .
Joebucks Posted March 4, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 4, 2019 From all of things I read on here, I expected the Dream class to be some secret Oasis of perfection. To be honest, I found my first Dream class to be overrated. That does NOT at all mean it was a bad ship. I enjoyed it very much. I found the Serenity, Lido Pool Area, and Punchliner to be just as crowded during peak times as the other ships, if not more. Definite pluses were food quality/choices and casino

This area has never been crowded on any Dream class ship I have cruised on. As for comedy shows, the lounge is significantly larger than the ones on Vista class ships and Sunshine. Quilcruisers Posted March 4, 2019 #13 Share Posted March 4, 2019 On the breeze. I too enjoy the wrap around promenade. Deck 5 goes all the way from the front of the ship to the back on one level. I really enjoyed the interior with walkway view. This was great for going down one level and having total complete privacy, even during the day , in the forward deck. Excellent photo opportunities and we often sat outside of our cabin to read . When we were ready to leave we would walk from 6 to 5 and walk the promenade to the midship elevators and missed the crowds. What i did not like is their sauna and steam rooms are very small for the one that is free. Loved the other rooms , piano bar, library with wine dispenser and comedy club. We played trivia on 5th floor too and able to sit in the promenade area at the tables and still see outside.

I did omit that were seats available, just not in the area I wanted. I wanted to be on Lido where all of the events were going on. Unfortunately, so did everyone else. When you consistently have one area packed and one always empty, it isn't a little gem. It is a poor design. I have yet to be on a Vista class, so I can't compare. All I know is that showing up early for the first 18+ comedy show each night was not enough. I was banished to standing room far too often. There were also plenty of seats in the Punchliner that had obstructed views.

let's go cruising Posted March 5, 2019 Author #16 Share Posted March 5, 2019 I am enjoying what everyone is writing. I'll have to look up the Cloud 9 Spa. Renee
momof4girls Posted March 5, 2019 #17 Share Posted March 5, 2019 While I have not been on every class of ship, it is most definitely my favorite class of ship! Now granted, we have not cruised during the busiest of times, but I have never felt crowded on a Dream class ship. I’m very curious how I’ll feel after my May cruise on the Breeze, as I expect it to be a packed ship since it’s during a “peak time”. LOVE the Cove balcony rooms, and Dream class ships were the first to have those. Since we really enjoy going to the shows, I’m having such a hard time wanting to book the Vista class ships, as everything I’ve read about them had that as the biggest complaint. One of my favorite things about the Dream class vs the other class ships I’ve been on, is the Lido deck (and above decks by Waterworks) seating. Methosage Posted March 7, 2019 #19 Share Posted March 7, 2019 Out of the 5 carnival ships we have sailed so far, without a doubt the Dream was our favorite ship. Due to this, we are now booked on the Breeze for August. The dream class also has the most underrated cabin class, and by far our favorite cabin type, which is the cove balconies. The only thing I am disappointed in, is they got ride for Tandoori on the Breeze and replaced it with the sea food shack. My wife and I love some Indian food. I am looking forward to getting seafood on the Breeze this Summer. We frequently buy shrimp and oysters on embarkation day if it’s available on the ship. I do realize food is subjective and people like you will miss Tandor.
evandbob Posted March 7, 2019 #21 Share Posted March 7, 2019 (edited) I've sailed the Dream, the Breeze and the Magic, and agree with most of the comments above. However, when I book a balcony, I try to secure a cabin about midway between the hot tubs on deck 5, as well as 3 decks above. I'll be on the Magic for the 4th time in just 10 more days. OP, enjoy your cruise! Edited March 7, 2019 by evandbob
jsglow Posted March 7, 2019 #22 Share Posted March 7, 2019 (edited) We just sailed our first Dream Class last week. I've sailed Dream, Sunshine, Conquest, Spirit, and Splendor classes. Like them in the order presented. Interestingly, I have different cabin preferences for each class. Edited March 7, 2019 by jsglow
4_THE_HALIBUT Posted March 7, 2019 #23 Share Posted March 7, 2019 Dream class, continental breakfast on deck 5, Ocean plaza. Never, ever crowded. Also, as stated previously, the lounge areas on deck 5 are sooo relaxing. Great viewing spot when entering or leaving ports.

elcuchio24 Posted March 7, 2019 #25 Share Posted March 7, 2019 We have Magic booked for later this year. We have been cruising NCL a fair amount in the past two years. I like the similar round-the-ship promenade decks around the 5th deck that NCL has on Breakaway/Getaway and am looking forward to a similar space on Magic.
