Haven Check-In Policies

Hello Everyone,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

We are going on a Norwegian cruise and got the family suite in the Haven. My Parents are going on the cruise, but are not located in the Haven. If I request it, would they be able to check-in with us through the Haven?

Thanks

Contact the concierge desk via e-mail with the request. If it is approved, print a copy and bring the copy with you.

I've done it (mother and sister) and everything went smoothly in the Haven check-in area. The concierge in the Haven knew who they were and their stateroom number. He even offered to give them a tour of the Haven.

It's a request so it may get denied but for a small number (parent/grandparent/etc.), it's likely to get approved.

Agree with Two Wheels--request in advance and you will have a good shot at it.  I will say (and I realize this wasn't the question), that it may be awkward if half your party is in the Haven and half is not.  They won't be able to hang out with you in the Haven area, restaurant (assuming you're on a ship with a Haven restaurant), lounge, etc.  I assume you've considered this but just my two cents.

Thanks for the comments.

I was given a haven suite through the casino, otherwise, I'm not sure I would be willing to pay the extra amount. This will actually be our first time cruising on Norwegian, so we are excited.

Our cuise is in June, so I will call the concierge in May. I am trying to get my son/daughter-in-law checked in with us since I am paying for them.  They are in a balcony and we are in a suite on the POA.  I will post the result.

I'm interested to see if this works for you.  I asked if my mom could board with us (suite) and was politely told no.

It's a request. Sometimes, it will not be allowed.

It might be best to call/email as soon as possible. They might allow the first requests then deny the requests that come later if too many people make the same request.

My family and I sailed on the Breakaway in the Haven. My sister and her husband were not in the haven. I sent a request to the pre concierge in advance asking if they could check in with us. They pre approved it. They had to check in then were allowed to join us in the haven area. Their names and cabin numbers were on the pre approved list. We did see another family that tried it at the pier and didn't get pre approval get denied. So I suggest you seek the pre approval. We were told if they chose to eat in the haven restraurant there would be a fee. However we felt uncomfortable and decided to head to the buffet. The only other time they came in the haven area was when I asked the concierge if he could show them around. I believe as long as you ask permission and they can do it they will accommodate it.

imagine if every suite wanted to check in just one person from a non-suite room.  thats alot of extra folks.

personally, i cant understand why anyone would want to sail Haven if traveling with others who are not in the Haven.  you either forego your benefits to spend time with them in other areas of the ship, or take advantage of your benefits and ignore those you are traveling with .

I have traveled in the Haven with non-Haven family. The issue is that the keycards you are given

are kept in the concierge area before you get on making for a seamless experience. If you bring

non-Haven family into the lounge they won't be able to check in because their cards are not there.

I have seen people check in at the Haven then go to the regular area and get on with family and also

have heard about people that arranged ahead of time for this so the non-Haven people's cards are there.

I would call ahead.

My family and I are doing a family reunion cruise.  Myself and spouse are in the haven but the other 83 extended family members are in steerage.  Any chance we can get the whole gang checked in with us in the haven?

No, but they can all go with you on the Platinum BTS tour.

Because sometimes space from those you're traveling with is best for everyone...says the stepmom who has sailed two blended family cruises and is planning a third cruise with her husband, our daughter, stepchildren, stepchildren's mother and stepfather.

I posted earlier about the feasibility of checking in our son and daughter-in-law with us in the POA Suite check in room...

I emailed the NCL Concierge (Norwegianconciergedesk@ncl.com) explaining that I am paying for their cruise (2nd anniversary present) and want to apply my cc to their reservation, and asked for Concierge’s approval to allow son/daughter-in-law to check in with us.  They responded the next day and approved my request.  I am grateful to the Concierge and sent her a reply expressing my appreciation.

Policy should be if you pay for the Haven you get into the Haven, if you don't pay for the Haven you don't

I totally agree why should we have to pay for full Haven fare and then others just walk on. Next they will asking to bring their relatives to t dining and Haven area.

Here is what happened to me a few weeks ago while checking in to the Haven on the Escape- No room left in the Haven lounge :(

I was sailing with my 3 children and looking forward to our very first Haven experience... Easy check in, comfy lounge, snacks for the kids while we waited etc etc. Nope not so much. We showed up around 10 am and were greeted with a packed Haven lounge and not a seat to be had, only crumbs left of what once was snacks. We waited to be checked in and then was kindly escorted to the Haven "overflow" area which was just some roped off area outside the lounge. Nothing special, no snacks etc. Made me wonder if all those people in the lounge were actually Haven guests or just checking in with Haven guests...

For the NY embarkations, the lounge is too small to start with.  Not making excuses, it just is.

I thought that as well! I think the Platinum waiting area is bigger then the Haven lounge, lol crazy. In NY non Haven in the lounge should not be allowed because of this. Maybe other locations with bigger lounges would be different.
