Addielove Posted March 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2019 My husband had a bad back and bad legs and sleeps in a recliner chair. Would it be possible for RCCL o have a recliner in our cabin? Terry Sadusky
Clarea Posted March 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2019 Welcome to Cruise Critic. I've never seen a recliner in a stateroom, but give Special Needs a shot: special_needs@rccl.com.

1025cruise Posted March 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted March 15, 2019 You would need to make arrangements to get the recliner yourself. But do contact special needs for information.
elhenry Posted March 15, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) I do not know if you can get reclining chairs. I do know that my brother, who slept in a recliner at his home due to bad back, bad neck, bad knees, and other issues, would cruise in the disabled suite and ask for pillows. Lots and lots and lots of pillows. Both in RCCL and NCL. Which they brought. And fashioned a semi-recliner. I don't know if that would work for your DH, but it's a thought. spookwife Posted March 15, 2019 #7 Share Posted March 15, 2019 you have to order one yourself from one of the two entities that are allowed to provide DME to the ships. one is special needs at sea. I believe the other is scootaround? they will arrange to get access to your cabin ahead of time and remove any furniture required to install the sleeping chair. does he need extra firm? we have found that the couches are very firm as they are( not converted to a bed)
Cruise_Couple Posted March 15, 2019 #8 Share Posted March 15, 2019 The company "Special Needs At Sea" offers a lift chair that I think is also a recliner (don't quote me on this). It is shown under the "bed rental" section of their web site.

LP987 Posted March 16, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 16, 2019 (edited) I arranged a reclining/lift chair for my 95 yr old aunt this past November when we sailed on Allure. I ordered through Scootaround and it was $235 for six nights. It was in our room when we arrived. She slept in it every night and loved it. It worked out perfect for us. We were in an assessible Jr suite but I read where others had in regular rooms and it fit fine too. Edited March 16, 2019 by LP987
