bradenday Posted March 26, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2019 Western Caribbean cruise on the Conquest the week of May 5th. Itinerary has us at port in the Caymans from 11am-6pm. I'm looking at a Stringray/Snorkel afternoon excursion from 12:30-4:30pm. I'm not sure what Carnival is advertising and what the Excursion website is advertising is necessarily the same time zone/daylight savings time. How do I confirm this? Rare 1025cruise Posted March 26, 2019 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2019 Generally, ship time will be the same time as the port of embarkation. So you will need to know what time it is in the individual ports. With that said, always stay on ship time. You don't want to miss the ship because you were off by an hour. Rare shof515 Posted March 26, 2019 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2019 The caymans island time has a one hour different with Florida time. the ship will mostly like stay on Florida time and will not adjust to island time

bradenday Posted March 26, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted March 26, 2019 That's due to Daylight Saving though, not time zones correct? So the the 12:30-4:30 would early be 1:30-5:30 ship time then? Not going to work with a 6pm departure then.
moondog73 Posted March 27, 2019 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Email the vendor. Most times they understand the whole ship time/ local time issue. All vendors I have used have been excellent at communicating with me.
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 27, 2019 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Cayman Islands DOES NOT use daylight savings time. Time zone is UTC-5. So currently 1 hour earlier than Florida ports. Same time as Mobile, NOLA and Galveston.
mets123 Posted March 27, 2019 #8 Share Posted March 27, 2019 If the excursion is thru the ship, it will not be an issue.
coevan Posted March 27, 2019 #9 Share Posted March 27, 2019 if the excursion is private, it will not be an issue either

So it's possible that the 12:30-4:30 you see is being given on ship time specifically because they are aware of the time difference and are aware what time your ship will be in port. But you won't know unless you contact them. If it is in fact 1:30-5:30, then that won't work.
coevan Posted March 27, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 27, 2019 you are way over thinking this, the excursion companies know their time and ship time.

I've attempted to reach out to the tour provider but its further complicated by the fact that the Cayman port authority is showing our ship in port 3-hours earlier (and leaving 3 hours earlier) than what my itinerary is advertising. They are confirming that their tour time works for me based on the port authority schedule but using what Carnival is advertising and the 1-hour difference it won't. This is my first cruise so I don't know what source is more reliable of the two. Any recommendations?

Maybe but they want to book me on a morning excursion based on the port authority schedule. Carnival says we won't be into port until 10am and I'll completely missed the tour. So it seems a bit important.
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 27, 2019 #16 Share Posted March 27, 2019 Here's the port schedule in Cayman Time 7:30- 15:00 on May 8th. https://www.caymanport.com/ship-schedule-results/ But you are correct in that Carnival lists port times as 10:00 -18:00.
