OCVTSGIRL Posted March 31, 2019 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2019 We are sailing on Symphony in September and one of our stops is Roatan, Honduras. We have never been there and we were wondering if anybody has done excursions and what if any you would recommend?

Ken at the beach Posted March 31, 2019 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2019 We used Victor Bodden tours on our last 2 stops to Roatan. Do the private tour, you can do as little or as much as you want.
Rare Petroplex Posted April 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2019 We used Rony's Tours in Roatan and loved it. We were able to customize a day to our liking, and he was able to handle adjustments during the day. I highly recommend them.
woodz Posted April 1, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 1, 2019 Had a great time at Jungle top zipline. We walked to it from the ship.

sixesandeights Posted April 1, 2019 #8 Share Posted April 1, 2019 Roatan has some of the most beautiful diving in the world. If you are not a diver I recommend any snorkel trip, as the reefs and sea life is plentiful and the visibility it amazing. 6&
nashirak Posted April 1, 2019 #9 Share Posted April 1, 2019 I also recommend diving/snorkeling. DW and I used subway water sports and were very pleased. We would use them again.
Sobro Posted April 1, 2019 #10 Share Posted April 1, 2019 Snorkeling with Upachaya resort in Roatan was the best. Even better than Woodwind at Bonaire.
Rare brillohead Posted April 2, 2019 #11 Share Posted April 2, 2019 Daniel Johnson's offers island tours, monkeys/sloths, snorkeling, and beach trips. Highly recommend.https://monkeyandslothhangout.com/home/index.php/excursions/

ggtjr Posted April 2, 2019 #16 Share Posted April 2, 2019 We used Victor Boden tours. This was the first time we did an excursion other than a ship's excursion. We felt safe and our tour guide said he would be sure to get back to the ship on time.
Cel_cruise Posted April 2, 2019 #17 Share Posted April 2, 2019 Loved our Victor Bodden private tour! We did zip lining, monkeys, island tour and beach on our own terms - great driver - great advice!! Really hope to go back soon - it was our favorite ziplining and beach! jungle1 Posted April 2, 2019 #18 Share Posted April 2, 2019 Just back from Roatan last week. We booked a sailing/snorkeling charter with Amavi charters (www.amavicharters.com). It was one of the best excursions we have ever been on. They only take 10-14 passengers and have 4 amazing crew members waiting on you hand and foot. We did two snorkeling stops with a fantastic barbecue lunch cooked on the boat in between. Couldn't recommend more highly.
queenfrostine22 Posted April 2, 2019 #19 Share Posted April 2, 2019 We did Maya Key through Royal. The beach was lovely-the snorkeling (extra) but reasonably priced- was fabulous! (beautiful water, lots of fish) The lunch was good, fish rice, veggies etc. The boat to get us there was right at the pier. Not a fan of the animal sanctuary but I don't like animals in captivity. Lots of boats back to the ship, every 1/2 hour or so. Would do it again.

I'm not sure I interpreted their site correctly. Can you tell me the cost of your excursion and did you have a group? There are only two of us and it looks perfect but the price seems a bit high. Thanks.
George C Posted April 2, 2019 #21 Share Posted April 2, 2019 By far the best dolphin encounter is there at Anthony key, have done it four or five times over the years and will do it again. Have done a few others but this is the best.

We had 10 of us, so we ended up chartering the whole boat for $1,500. It is a bit pricier than some large group snorkel excursions but was in line with what I've paid for private small-group trips elsewhere.

Aquahound Posted April 3, 2019 #24 Share Posted April 3, 2019 Not sure if they still offer it but if you're looking for a relaxing day, we did an excursion that dropped us off at Parrot Bay for the day. It included free access to the lagoon beach and the huge swimming pool. I would do it again.
