Noticed yesterday, after online check in opened, that my bid was "locked in" at pending - no modifications were available. I thought it was still too early for MoveUp notice.  Today, I received a notice that my credit card had been charged and almost immediately got the email notifying me of the upgrade.   Ghost bookings for the last 2 weeks showed availability of 3 remaining Royal Suites, while all inside, veranda and concierge class were sold out.

I made a bid for a suite with an amount over the minimum bid but have just logged onto my booking and it says it has expired.  I am now trying to up my bid but it wont allow me to do this on any category.  I have tried to make a mock booking and there are a lot of suites still available so I am unsure why I cannot put in a new higher bid.  The sailing is in September.

Sorry for asking my question here but would appreciate any reply.

Those amounts are absurdly high and I can't blame you for not bidding.  A move to Concierge is pointless especially since you lose your ability to choose where you'll be.  I'm thinking your cruise is sold out or very nearly so.  I have seen MoveUp bid minimums lowered as the sailing date approaches, but it's not a sure thing.

Bids on my upcoming edge sailing were crazy.  Only $100pp to move up to concierge but again zero control of where you end up.

Ship: Apex

Length of Cruise: 12 night Western Europe Transatlantic

Cruise Sail Date: October 23, 2024

Date email offer received: July 26, 2024

Captain’s Club Tier: Elite Plus

Booked through Celebrity Direct OR via TA: TA

Current Cabin: Infinite Veranda E1

Bid?  Yes/No: No thanks...

Edge Villa: Minimum $5,530 CAD pp

Royal Suite Minimum: $6,910 CAD pp

Celebrity Suite Minimum:  $4,145 CAD pp

Aqua Class Suite Minimum:  $2,350 CAD pp

Sunset Sky Suite Minimum: $2,350 CAD pp

Sky Suite Minimum: $2,350 CAD pp

Aqua Class Minimum: $690 CAD pp

Concierge Class Minimum: $275 CAD pp

Enjoyed my previous transatlantic on the Apex in 2022 so I booked this one at a good price (perhaps due to the somewhat bland itinerary). All but the last two upgrade minimums would cost more than the original fare (as a solo cruiser) so I'm going to pass on this one (and keep my MoveUp record at 2 wins and 6 fails). I believe the cruise is mostly sold out so I think the upgrade chances are low. Posting for information for those who like to track and compare these things.

As a side note, I was amused to see that the photo of a Sky Suite in the MoveUp email is actually a photo of the Penthouse Suite on the Edge. Interesting strategy.

@peter42 we are on the same cruise 🙂

Ship: Beyond

Length of Cruise: 6 nights

Cruise Sail Date: Oct 13th

Date email offer received: July 16th

Captain’s Club Tier: Select

Booked through Celebrity Direct OR via TA: TA

Current Cabin: Sky Suite

Bid?  Yes/No: No, not yet

Iconic Suite: $7050-$35,250 pp

Penthouse Suite: $3050- $15,250 pp

Edge Villa: $2050- $10,250 pp

Royal Suite: $1550-$7,750 pp

Celebrity Suite: $1250- $6,250 pp

AquaClass Sky Suite: $550- $2,750 pp

Sunset Sky Suite: $350- $1,750 pp

Are these good prices?  We really enjoyed our Aqua Class last cruise so trying a Sky Suite this time.  Would you bid, is another $2500 worth the Celebrity Suite worth it compared a Sky Suite?  Not that even guaranties a winning bid....

We have been fortunate to succeed at the move up 4 times in the past couple of years.

While looking at your 6 night cruise the move up is not worth it in my opinion based on these rates.
The Royal Suite maybe because of the additional perks, such as unlimited specialty dining....

No way to high, probably it would be cheaper just to change the booking

Ship: Eclipse

Length of Cruise: 7 nights

Cruise Sail Date: October 20 - 28, 2024

Date email offer received: July 24, 2024

Captain’s Club Tier: Elite Plus

Booked through Celebrity Direct OR via TA: TA

Current Cabin:  Concierge -C1

Bid?  Yes/No: NO.  We love the location of our cabin - right on the hump and close to the elevators.  We have been in the Retreat a few times in both S Class and E Class ships and the upgrade prices are not worth it (in my opinion) for an older ship with no Retreat Deck.

Royal Suite: $3,000pp min.

Celebrity Suite: $2,000 pp min.

AquaClass Sky Suite: $1,300pp min.

Sunset Sky Suite: $1,250pp min.

Sky Suite: $800pp min.

AquaClass: $500pp min.

Sunset Concierge Class Stateroom: $450pp min.

There are still quite a few cabins available so I thought the prices were high.

Ship:  Silhouette

Length of Cruise: 12

Cruise Sail Date: 04. August 24

Date email offer received: 31.05.24

Captain’s Club Tier [“PREVIEW” = first Celebrity Cruise]: PREVIEW

Booked through Celebrity Direct OR via TA: TA

Bid? Yes/No: Yes

Bidding Details:

Notification Date: 02.08.24

General Comments:

Starting bids in Mail.

Royal Suite €1,385

Celebrity Suite €555

Sky Suite 450€

Sky Suite 740€

Horizon Suite 925€

Sky Suite 460€

Aqua Class Cabin 140€

Sunset Concierge Class 90€

Concierge Class Cabin 90€

Sunset Veranda Cabin 90€

Dropped later significantly to about half to two thirds. I bid on both sunsets 95€ pp=190€ per cabin which started then at 60€

Checked the same day of rejection for bookable cabins: Only some verandas. Had observed before from time to time and believe ship was fully booked.

Would like to know which bids made it.

No.  We are not fans of where the AquaSS are located, not fans of the CS separate bedroom with no view of the sea and RS/PS don't want to spend the extra money
