I wish you luck!  I was in this situation, having bid on multiple suite categories and seeing all bids Expire with only the Royal Suite Pending. after just over a week of that suspense, all of my bids returned to Pending and were open for changes. I didn’t end up getting the Royal Suite that was pending for so long (there were 3 open at the time), but I did get a Sunset Sky Suite.

The exact thing happened to us! Thought for sure our bid was accepted since we could not modify nor cancel for an entire week. We already have a Sunset Sky Suite and were bidding on a Royal. No luck.

Something just doesn't seem right about locking your bid so you can't change or rescind and then not upgrading you.  Seems even more one sided than usual.

I was locked out for a little over a week, but then everything opened up again for 4 or 5 days before I got notified that I’d received the Sunset Sky Suite.

The result of my bid was that one was grayed out and pending for 5 days. Three rooms at the level had been available before and at the beginning of the lock. I ultimately was told we did not win the bid (though it was listed as strong). On board now in my sky suite and still happy.

  • Accepted / Rejected: Accepted - Royal

FYI  - I have been monitoring the suites avail since final payment ...

we have been receiving Move-up emails for the last 2 month - I have been watching the ship selling out all the lower class cabins with exciting deals & reduced pricing...   THE SUITES WERE NOT SELLING (they did not reduce any pricing)  - There were 5 royal suites still available YESTERDAY!!!!  -  So we put in our first bid  UC (not min but still weak just over the first line in the meter)...  only on the Royal as we wanted the room amenities of Royal or above ...

Got acceptance email 10 am this morning !!!!

Move-up did them ALL this morning - there were 2 Sky, 2 Aqua Sky, 5 Celebrity Suites and 5 Royal suites LAST NIGHT AT MIDNIGHT !!!  AND TODAY THEY ARE ALL GONE - NO MORE RETREAT suites available.

So I have made minimum bids on Constellation Jan 3 cruise to Royal & PH  (in CS now)- however there are no uppers suites sold out at this time

Also on Ascent Jan 28 to Royal (1 available)

as mention in my previous post - there are no upper suites available on the Constellation

and only 1 royal left on the ascent - don't expect any success on ANY of these bids - weak but what I am willing to spend !!! that's why i was wondering about your results of this database ... after my success with a royal after one day and one bid  - interested in knowing when do people usually get notified or do some get accepted with large bid earlier than others ... I know you dont answer questions - just want to know what you learn in 4 years

Totally agree! I have never had this happen before. I read that Blue Chip controls the 'inventory' and I did not know that. I can only surmise that bids were disabled while they were upgrading their members/players, and when Blue Chip finished 'Celebrity' was back in 'control'??? Actually, nothing really makes any sense and one can only guess as to how it's really done.

I'm only guessing, but I think that it's not only how much you bid, but also how much your current Stateroom is in demand.  For example if your current stateroom has been Sold Out for some time, Celebrity might see a benefit to you vacating it so that someone else can either MoveUp into it, or they can sell it outright to a new customer.  Maybe Celebrity has Wait Lists to inform them.

And  this is how rumors get started.

The Move-Up Program is contracted out by Celebrity.  Neither BCC or Celebrity control the outcomes.

The only extra advantage anyone has is with extra % of bid added for your Status (Elite, Elite+ Zenith)

When travelling with others, both in the same cabin and both make the same bids, could it be possible that one cabin wins and another doesn't?

Could be tricky for dining etc.....

Yep and has happened as demonstrated on this board.

Not meant to start rumors, just repeating what I read. Glad you know exactly how moveups are managed.

Interesting - first time I've seen a promo like this.  Perhaps they'd like to see more bids?  I imagine that whatever the algorithm that's used, the higher the bid, the greater the likelihood of success, regardless of the lowered entry bid price.

$1500pp....On the high side but about $1000 savings PP on website rate at the time from my SS booking.

I’m hopeful for mine on the ascent on January 14th.  I’m in Aqua currently and bid on Sky, Aqua sky, and celebrity suites!

Hi Everyone,

Our cruise departs in 2 days.

The move up offer we submitted still says pending.

Any chance it will happen based on the experience of previous move up offers placed by Cruise Critic readers ?

I heard somewhere that you'll be told no later than 48 hours before you cruise, so imagine youknow how.
