dsvrn Posted May 17, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 17, 2019 I will have several types of OBC. Which of these are refundable: FCC, veteran, promotion from Princess, stock holder, Princess Visa points converted to OBC? Do they use non refundable first? NavyVeteran Posted May 17, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 17, 2019 Veteran OBC is refundable. Stockholder is not. Princess promotion is probably not. I think Princess Visa OBC is but I haven't used it myself, so I'm not sure - using Princess Visa points as a statement credit against a Princess purchase of $4,001 or more gives higher payback than using it for OBC, so I never use it for OBC. For OBC listed on your Cruise Personalizer, there is an asterisk showing which is nonrefundable. Also your onboard folio shows refundable and nonrefundable OBC separately. They always use nonrefundable OBC first, so you will receive a refund after the cruise if there is nonrefundable OBC left over.

FCC, stockholder, Princess promo are non refundable. In the past Veteran's has been refundable. Check your cruise personlizer under payments and credits. It will indicate which OBC's are non-refundable. Things change. What has been may not be now. Yes, the system automatically uses non-refundable first. The correct statement is...You will receive a refund (check in the mail) after the cruise, or cash at Passenger Services (if $25 or less) if there is REFUNDABLE OBC left. If you have nonrefundable OBC in your folio close to the end of the cruise (grab a calculator and subtract gratuities, etc.) - go to the casino and cash it out by playing a couple of spins on a one-armed bandit, go shopping in one of the shops or grab a couple of meal in a specialty restaurant. I've done all of those.

bemis12 Posted May 17, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 17, 2019 I have some purchased OBC and purchased casino credits. I assume that these are refundable, being purchased.
dsvrn Posted May 17, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted May 17, 2019 Thanks for the info. I didn’t notice the asterisk in the planner. Good idea about going to the casino if we have a lot left to cash out. We like to use the sanctuary so will use some there too.
Jeremiah On a Cruise Posted May 17, 2019 #8 Share Posted May 17, 2019 Now I'm confused: Can both refundable and nonrefundable OBC be used, and subsequently cashed out from the Casino? And, does the answer differ by ship/staff?

And, does the answer differ by ship/staff? The ship doesn't matter. For example: our next cruise (a B2B) we have $2070 OBC for the combined cruises. We booked both under the 3 for free with gratuities paid. We'll likely do some shore excursions, a specialty dinner or 2 and that will likely leave us with $1000 left over OBC (most of it nonrefundable). So toward the end of the cruise, we'll visit the casino a couple of times to get the nonrefundable and wait for a check for the refundable. Once in a while the slot, machine bandit actually leaves us with more than we started. And once, we were given the casino discount for future cruises. That was nice, we booked 5 cruises with the discount.
