cowboygene Posted May 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Staying in Rome prior to our embarkation on the Jade November 7th. Can anyone suggest a transfer from Rome to the port? Hotel can arrange for a private car for 150 Euros, Thanks
Rare ColeThornton Posted May 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Gene, have you checked out the Italy ports of call forum? https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/464-italy-ports/
debgreg Posted May 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2019 It is quite a way, we got a private van at the port to takes us into Rome, depends how many of you there are, you can get a train but I doubt you would want to with luggage. Look at Hoppa they usually give a fairly accurate price
Até Posted May 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2019 We found other people on our roll call and shared a private van from: http://www.nccplus.it/private-shuttle-civitavecchia-port/

BaWBarmy Posted May 20, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Taxi from hotel to Termini Railway Station Train to Civitavecchia Taxi to Dock Gates Shuttle to Cruise Terminal / Ship (there should be one on Embarkation Day) I'd be surprised if that comes to anywhere near 50 euros each. But the 150 euros is the going rate for the transfer from hotel to ship. Best way to go if you are not spring chickens. Rome is expensive.

Our hotel was close to the Termini Station, so, we could roll our luggage to the station. Maybe, $5 Euros for the train. A bus from the train station to the port location for a Euro or two. The only problem, if your train doesn't end up on the closest track to the station, you have to go up and down stairs with your luggage. No porters to help, if you can handle your luggage, it's ok, if not, it is difficult to do if you're older. But, it is very inexpensive. The train leaves every hour and takes an hour. I've done it with luggage and would do it again, especially when I had no one with whom to share the cost of a taxi or van. I would probably take the express train next time, because the regional trains, although cheap, can be very crowded. 11 hours ago, BaWBarmy said: Taxi from hotel to Termini Railway Station Train to Civitavecchia Taxi to Dock Gates Or Metro from hotel to Termini, if you're near a Metro station. And local bus for €2 from the Civitavecchia station to the port entrance.
Nebr.cruiser Posted May 21, 2019 #10 Share Posted May 21, 2019 We've used Bob's Limo from ship to airport and vice a versa, and I know they do the same from the city. We had good luck and good service each time. We always had either private or shared cars or vans, not limos. We've also used the train, with luggage, at 65+. We did ship to Rome, but it would be the same the other way.
HAPPINESS IS Posted May 21, 2019 #11 Share Posted May 21, 2019 A word of warning if you are going to take the train from Termini - there are many pick-pockets operating on these trains which run to and from the port of Civitavecchia. DON'T leave ANY valuables lying on the seat! A couple from England were robbed (passports, money, cameras etc) and they were not permitted to board the ship! Poor people!!😨 We personally witnessed this during our train trip last year and it wasn't a very pleasant experience.
bluesea777 Posted May 21, 2019 #12 Share Posted May 21, 2019 It is a very long walk to the ship from the port gates and you need to take care due to port traffic. Taxi/limos from Rome are allowed to get into the port gates and will take you straight to the terminal/ship. The local bus mentioned in post 9 will stop at port gates only. GA Dave Posted May 21, 2019 #13 Share Posted May 21, 2019 I called NCL and they said they offer a bus from the airport to the port. Has anyone used this service? If so, did it drop you at the port gate, or take you to the ship?
daveispar Posted May 22, 2019 #14 Share Posted May 22, 2019 Last year, we did it reverse, from the ship to the airport for about $60. I would guess, it's about the same from the airport to the ship ! I think it was $60 for both, but, I'm not sure.
