Birdie And Sue Posted June 6, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2019 Dear Valued Travel Partners, As you know, yesterday the United States government announced new and immediate travel restrictions to Cuba. Effective today, June 5, 2019, we are no longer permitted to call to the country and will begin modifying the itineraries for all previously scheduled Cuba sailings. Amended itineraries will be communicated in the coming days. Sailings through and including September 2, 2019 Those guests currently sailing on Norwegian Sun who departed on June 3 as well as all guests booked on Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun cruises to Cuba through and including the September 2, 2019 departure will receive a 50% refund of the cruise fare paid as well as a 50% future cruise credit valid for sailings through December 31, 2021. Refunds for June 2019 and July 2019 sailings will be processed by June 30, 2019 while refunds for August 2019 sailings will be processed by July 31, 2019. Refunds will be applied to the original form of payment. This process will be automatic and requires no action from you. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen change and are protecting full commission for reservations that continue to sail on amended Norwegian Sky and Sun former Cuba sailings. Standard cancellation policies apply for those guests who choose not to sail. Visa fees arranged through Norwegian Cruise Line will be refunded and government taxes and fees will be adjusted accordingly. Any shore excursions purchased through Norwegian Cruise Line for Cuba will be automatically refunded and posted to your clients’ onboard account for June 3 departure or refunded to original form of payment for other sailings. Future Cruise Credits will be attached to your clients’ Latitudes profile and are fully commissionable at time of redemption as per our Company’s standard policy.Sailings beyond September 2, 2019 Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun Cuba sailings beyond September 2, 2019 will be automatically cancelled. New itineraries will be announced in the coming weeks. Refunds will be applied to the original form of payment. Travel Partner commissions will be protected on all deposited bookings and will be distributed by June 30, 2019. For those guests impacted by these auto-cancellations, we are offering a 20% discount (off current cruise fare) on any new bookings on future sailings booked by August 5, 2019 and sailing no later than December 31, 2020. The discount will reside on guests’ Latitudes profile and can be applied by calling reservations at 1(800) 327-7030. Our dedicated Support Services team is available to assist with any questions at 1 (877) 461-1160, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST. For any guests booked outside of the U.S. and Canada, please visit www.ncl.com for our local contact information. We understand the disappointment and frustration this unexpected and last-minute change has caused you and your clients. Like you, we were surprised by this sudden modification to policy. Kingkonig Posted June 6, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2019 From what I can tell this is the best offer any of the big lines have given. 50% refund, 50% cruise credit, AND you keep the cruise 3

Birdie And Sue Posted June 6, 2019 Author #8 Share Posted June 6, 2019 Beside a mere 3% change is of no significance what so ever. Standard stock market volatility. Except to the fools who day trade!

We won’t actually see the result of this until probably the Q3 earnings report. The stock market is extremely volatile, doesn’t take just one thing into account, and is reactionary. Casino Comp Chick Posted June 6, 2019 #11 Share Posted June 6, 2019 (edited) Glad to see NCL step up, usually the other lines give better compensation leaving NCL looking like K-Mart of the seas. I guess this time around they upped their offer because they know it won’t send them into bankruptcy court. RupanIII Posted June 6, 2019 #12 Share Posted June 6, 2019 I'm happy with it. Wife and I are going on the Sun 6/17 for our 10th anniversary. We specifically picked Cuba because it was something different, she wanted to go to the Tropicana, and I wanted some Cuban rum. Are we disappointed? Yes absolutely. Given the situation I think that NCLs response is easily the best for those that still want to cruise on their original dates. However they should have also matched RCI and Carnival and allowed full refunds for those that wanted to cancel. Now a lot of people have a choice of either going on a cruise that they don't want with a credit for a line that they don't want to sail on or get nothing if they cancel. The only group of people that this plan works for are those that still want to cruise regardless of their destination. Luckily for us we are in that group. No other time worked for us so we are going to make the best of things. 4
Rare Coral Posted June 6, 2019 #13 Share Posted June 6, 2019 My friends were hoping for cancellation and full refund like CCL and RCL. They are not really cruisers. They booked this cruise to see Cuba. They have no desire to go to the Bahamas or return on an NCL cruise. It maybe great for those who cruise a lot with NCL or who like NCL but for those who used it as a way to see Cuba, they wish they had booked with one of the other lines as they prefer their compensation (full refund). If you like the NCL product - this may work for you. My friends were solely interested in Cuba.
Quencups Posted June 6, 2019 #14 Share Posted June 6, 2019 We are on the 6/17 sky cruise and we are happy with it. Cancelling was never an option for us as we have too many family members flying/auto training in. We are disappointed but I know we will have a great time no matter where we go. I am happy with the compensation

If you bought a plane ticket to California to visit Napa Valley but instead you were given a ticket to Flint, Michigan, would you have an open mind and be thankful that the airline gave you a coupon, forcing you to buy a flight in order to use it?

I jut returned from a three week land trip to the Middle East knowing that may plans could've change in an instant in that volatile part of the world. Traveling and flexibility go hand and hand. We are all disappointed, but that's what insurance is for. I hope your friends enjoy whatever decision they made, if they are not happy with the destination perhaps they may make up for it with the new friends they may meet along the way. Regarding Flint, Michigan...I'd rent a car and find a way to enjoy a place I've never been to. Edited June 6, 2019 by kendon 2

Not to sound harsh, but NCL is protecting the interests of their most important customers, the people who love to cruise. Unfortunately for your friends, they are not in a group that NCL would care about, since they would most likely (based on your description) never cruise again. It is similar to people that fly in the cheapest seats once or twice a year getting upset when the airlines board their Diamond/Platinum/Gold members first. Those frequent flyers keep the airlines in business and making a nice profit. The airlines are not going to concern themselves with customers that spend a few hundred dollars a year.

njkate Posted June 6, 2019 #21 Share Posted June 6, 2019 This was something totally out of NCL's control. I think their compensation is very generous.

Hey, I fly in some of the cheapest seats, but I do that so I can afford to fly up north to see my son, daughter in love, and my precious grandson. With that being said,I don't ever complain about others being boarded ahead of me. As long as the jet doesn't leave me behind, I'm good to go. As far as NCL's offer, I'm happy with it. My son is disappointed, b/c Cuba was his birthday/christmas present but he also knows things happen outta our control and we roll with the punches. We still get to cruise, it will be his first cruise, at a discounted rate. I'm ok with that. June 17th can't get here quick enough!!
