Who do I contact?

How big is the burn wound if the dr says it could take weeks to months to heal? I'm surprised he can't put a better time line on it. It's not like you were massively burned. They did tell you to keep your arms tucked in, right? Hope it heals quick.

Be careful what you post, I would not make it public. This should be between you, a reputable lawyer and RCL. What answers do you expect from here?

I was burned pretty bad on a cruise several years ago. It was an accident, the coffee carafe had a mini explosion all over me. The staff took me to see the doctor and wouldn't let me off the ship (it was the last morning of the cruise) until they got a specialist there to check my eyes since there were burns near my eyes. 

Just a side note, the only people that ever knew about it were the people at the table with me, including my DH, DS, DBiL and my stepson... I have never told anyone on CC about it. Some on here might be shocked by this... 

All I wanted was to be OK and eventually I was. I do have a few scars from it but it was an accident... Be thankful it wasn't your life.

You are not alone in your feelings. A freak incident at my grandson’s daycare several years ago left me with a broken wrist, requiring surgery, pins, a couple months in a cast, and a few months of physical therapy to regain use of my hand and wrist. It was highly inconvenient as it happened right after Thanksgiving, thus affecting the holidays, and I could not drive for a good portion of that time. 

 

The daycare’s Corporate office reimbursed all of my out of pocket medical expenses, and probably would have covered lost wages, but I had enough sick time banked up for any time I needed off, and my employer was quite flexible with my schedule while I was not able to drive myself.  I did not ask for anything more. 

 

Other than that, I was grateful my injury wasn’t worse or permanent, and very grateful I was not carrying my grandson at the time of the incident.

The same happen to me last year on Harmony. I held my arms as instructed.

However,  my right arm came lose and rub alongside the slide..I too made a skin deposit. It burned like He## & was very painful! Had to have assistance from DH for about 2 weeks to dress the area. I have a  daily reminder of my time on Abyss.  I was surprised that we didn't have to sign  a waiver as you have to with other shipboard activities. That's the risk we take when being adventurous! ;-). I 'm taking a long sleeved top on Symphony this year. Good Luck.

Write a letter to the C.E.O. of RC.   Include with your complaint letter, photos of your injury, Dr. report, all medical bills. Explain you have been mentally traumatized, and physically scared for life.  You may get reimbursed by C C for the bills.

Maybe you just might get a full or partial refund of your cruise,  or maybe an offer of a free future cruise..  And if you do not get a satisfactory response or remedy, contact your lawyer.

If you mention lawyer at all the letter will be sent to legal and it'll wait there until a lawyer contacts them about it. If your letter is too long, hard to read, too hostile, or asks for way too much it probably won't get a response. Though conversely if you ask for nothing you're likely to get a thanks for contacting us letter. 

 

Considering this doesn't sound like a large dollar injury I personally would try to handle it myself considering it deals with maritime law and stipulations in the cruise contract that would complicate a suit.

I think the biggest issue is that it seems to be a known issue and has continued to be an issue.  Maybe they need to have water running out of small tubes all the way down to keep it slick?

It is a dry slide that you ride on a mat /bag that your feet go in.

If so it should have sleeves for your arm to prevent the burn
