bury me at sea Posted June 12, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 12, 2019 Things that make my cruises more enjoyable: Assigned dining, take time to enjoy, order multiple appetizers. Check Fun Times but don't over schedule. Take time for simply relaxing. Catch a sunrise out on deck. Sunsets are pretty phenomenal too. Slow down, enjoy the here and now. Happy sailing.

In the end, I loved the Valor. Enjoyed the adults only pool in the back of the ship. Excellent hot tubs there. Loved the pizza, the burgers, the ship experience. I bag on Carnival all the time, but the Valor was a definite bright spot. Enjoy! Did you say Adults only pool?! Awesome. Does the serenity deck have pool or hot tubs? We had to switch our cruise because our itin was changed from Cuba and I didn't want to do Nassau. So we are cruising out of New Orleans (new port for us) on the Valor in October! Lottacruises Posted June 12, 2019 #8 Share Posted June 12, 2019 (edited) The aft pool is adults only. Personally, I prefer pools with kids to pools with adults with buckets of beer that stay in there ALL DAY. How do they go that long without going to use the restroom? Rare KmomChicago Posted June 13, 2019 #9 Share Posted June 13, 2019 That’s a good point. Kids don’t stay in a tiny crowded pool all that long before they get bored. Adults settle in for the duration!
cruisingbajan Posted June 13, 2019 #10 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Valor has been my favourite cruise so far. It was our honeymoon cruise😉😄. We had a great roll call and met some fantastic people on that sailing.
CruizCuz Posted June 15, 2019 #11 Share Posted June 15, 2019 I LOVED the Valor! The color scheme is definitely patriotic, with all the red, white and blue. I took my parents, including my father, who served in the Air Force for over 35 years. While on that cruise, we attended our first ever Military Appreciation event. It was amazing and open to ALL, even those who didn't serve. In fact, those who didn't serve, came up to my dad and thanked him for his service. My father, who is now in his 80's beamed with pride. It was our cruise highlight. Now we never miss that event on each ship. Ok, back to Valor specifics.....I always love this class of ship. I found their staff at that time to be very professional and friendly. I love the Alchemy Bar. It was small enough to navigate easily, but not as small as the Fantasy class ships. Enjoy! courtlynndear Posted June 26, 2019 #12 Share Posted June 26, 2019 I love Valor. Easy to navigate and we didn't get CHEERS, just had Crown sent to our cabin. Ship was small enough where we could go fill up our tumblers easily and have our bubbles package to top it off at the bar. The piano bar is a MUST! MzOhioLady Posted June 26, 2019 #13 Share Posted June 26, 2019 I've been on the Valor twice and LOVED IT!! That was when the Valor was doing 7 night cruises. I've done the Western and Eastern Itinerary on the Valor. I like the décor of the ship and the Aft Pool.
evandbob Posted June 26, 2019 #14 Share Posted June 26, 2019 Sailed Valor 7 times, mostly for cheap solo fares on western itineraries years ago. The OP asked for tips, and this one applies to any Conquest class ships, inc. the Valor: If you have dining in the aft MDR, and need to get forward to the casino, shops, or theater (or reverse directions from the theater to the comedy club), use the 4th deck walk through. This way one can by pass all those crowds waiting for pictures at the stations the photographers set up. No more jostling or waiting! Enjoy the aft lounge on deck 4 opposite the MDR, stay to the right and go through the passageway to the 2nd staircase up one deck and you'll be at the elevators outside the casino. You will have avoided the entire 5th Ave promenade this way. If you take the 1st staircase, you'll still be at 5th ave. where the Taste Bar used to be. If you enjoy crowds or like to wait the picture taking, just ignore my tip. We're still friends, eh?

He was part of that great group and roll call I mentioned. You probably dont remember Bob but you gave me some sage advice re: married life that I still remeber up to this day👍.
