moonjelly Posted June 26, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2019 Hi All, How early before the main show would you suggest arriving so that 4 people can get a seat together, but so we not wasting undue time sitting in a theater before a show instead of watching the ocean or doing one of the million other wonderful cruise things? The Ship is Celebrity Solstice. Do they repeat the main show twice a night so those in early dining see one, while the late diners see the other, thus ensuring that most of 4,000 people aren't vying for seats at the same time? Thank you 😀
TFLG Posted June 26, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 26, 2019 I've never had an issue getting a seat on a Celebrity ship. Most shows are far from full. The upper balcony area usually has loads of open seats. If you want down in front near the center you might want to get there 10 or 15 minutes early. Two identical shows per night, usually one at 7 and one at 9, and occasionally a late show, usually comedy.
Rare hcat Posted June 26, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2019 We usually go 20 min early..get nice seats, enjoy a cocktail and people watch! Some shows are more popular than others.. on EDGE, some were SRO and they had to add a matinee.. I think the theater is smaller... On EDGE, middle upper balcony seats were reserved for suite guests. Not sure about the reserved seat location on other ships.
dkjretired Posted June 26, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2019 There will be two shows each night usually 7 and 9 except the night you are in Victoria. If I remember correctly there is only one on that night.

Thank you 😀 First of all Solstice is not 4000 passengers, do not overdo it. If it is 10 to 15 minutes before it is enough, the first 7PM shift is almost always half empty since most of the passengers are at the early dinner. Denny01 Posted June 26, 2019 #6 Share Posted June 26, 2019 If you’ve cruised with Princess, many of the ships had pretty small main theaters and you had to get there at least 30-45min early to get seats even together. Celebrity has a large theater. With our 20+ cruses on that Line, we’ve never had problems with getting seats. Agree - if you want up close center, go 10-15min early. Alakegirl Posted June 26, 2019 #7 Share Posted June 26, 2019 Don’t go 45 minutes early! The doors won’t even be open then!

All the responses you have received have provided lots of good, accurate information. Some shows are more popular than others but 15 minutes in advance should be adequate if you want good seats together. If you are willing to do without the prime real estate seats, then even less time in advance is needed. The two of us are not fussy about our seats and we often arrive at showtime, and almost always get two seats together in the upper balcony, an area many cruisers might consider undesirable but it suits our needs. As Denny01 mentioned, it is a different story on Princess. On a recent cruise on the Grand Princess, one had to arrive at least 30 minutes early to get a good seat, and often had to arrive 15 minutes early to get any seat. Woefully undersized theatre. Celebrity theaters are more accommodating.
