fstuff1 Posted June 28, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2019 it used to be 50% of ship's tips get pooled with all other casinos in the fleet and split among all the dealers in the company. other 50% gets split among the dealers on the ship. from a couple of dealers i've spoken to this year, ncl keeps 60% of casino tips and other 40% gets split among that ship's dealers.

LrgPizza Posted June 28, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 28, 2019 If you were my customer, I'd tell you they keep 80% so that maybe you'll react emotionally (as you are) and tip me bigger.
fstuff1 Posted October 27, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted October 27, 2019 heard the same story from an ex-NCL casino dealer now working for a rival cruise line. he said the ncl dealers only get 40% of the tips. thats why he left. so unless there's a conspiracy among ncl dealers to spread the same rumors, i do believe the story that ncl keeps 60% of dealer tips.

Wow, so if I understand you, you'd lie and take advantage of someone else's misfortune for your own personal benefit? You know what they say about karma.....
Love my butler Posted October 30, 2019 #7 Share Posted October 30, 2019 I am shocked NCL lets them keep 40%. The other 60% going to the fleet 'pool' is a fraud.
17cruisesnsl Posted October 30, 2019 #8 Share Posted October 30, 2019 Does this also apply to the slot attendants? When we tip them following that rare hand pay?

That reasoning doesn’t make sense to me. You think I would tip more so that NCL would keep 80% of a larger tip pot? Wrong.

Sure. And people eat up this kind of fairy tale and bump up their tips as you did.

Casino Comp Chick Posted October 30, 2019 #12 Share Posted October 30, 2019 1 for you, 1 for me, 2 for you, 1,2 for me, 3 for you, 1,2,3 for me. Knowing DelFeo, I can see that happening.
fshagan Posted November 1, 2019 #13 Share Posted November 1, 2019 I'm confused. The wording isn't very clear. I have three questions: 1. If NCL uses the tip pool for all the dealers is the only change the percentage split between local tips and fleetwide tip pool? 2. If NCL used to use the tip pool, but has stopped using it while at the same time lowering the percentage to the ship's dealers from 50 to 40%? Two changes in this one, abandoning the tip pool and also reducing the amount of tips the dealers on the ship get. 3. If NCL never used the tip pool and the dealers got 50%, then is the only change that the dealers are now getting 40%?
ray98 Posted November 1, 2019 #14 Share Posted November 1, 2019 The dealer is not losing 60%.....even if this number is true he get 40% up front and then his share of the fleetwide pool. On an above average tip he may only realize 90% of the value, on a poor tip he may end up with 110%, on everything that meets the average he is basically getting it back dollar for dollar. phillyguy31 Posted November 1, 2019 #15 Share Posted November 1, 2019 This is a rehash of an earlier thread and just another way to bring up tipping. If the dealer left because he wasn't happy his pay structure, good for him that is the way it is suppose to work. However let's be fair and honest about things, would you take at face value something an employee said negative about his past employer, unless you know for sure why he changed jobs. Zero, that’s right the big goose egg! The cruiseline can keep 100% of that zero for all I care!
