Beanb41 Posted July 22, 2019 #30 Share Posted July 22, 2019 When facing Visa concerns irrespective of which country one is from and irrespective of where one is going to asking questions pertaining to such visas on forums like this and Trip Advisor and other such forums is fraught with danger.. Correspondents on these forums are not immigration experts, nor are we authorised to comment on behalf of any government on immigration matters. If someone has an issue go to the immigration dept of the country involved. Most have detailed websites where the information can be obtained or at least a contact email address on the site. If one relies on advice given here and it is wrong caveat emptor

Aus Traveller Posted July 22, 2019 #33 Share Posted July 22, 2019 It is quite likely that the person has already checked the situation on line, or with their travel agent, but would like confirmation from people on this forum that they haven't needed a visa. 🙂

Only a country's immigration dept can be truly relied upon to determine whether or not a visa or ETA or ESTA or any other requirements are needed for access across the border. Principally because we don't have all the facts pertaining to a reason for a visa. An example is a citizen of one country may not need a visa to enter another country but if that person is not born in the country of which they are now a citizen, they may need one. The relationship between India and Pakistan is a case in point and Israeli passport holders going to certain Arab countries Edited July 22, 2019 by Beanb41

There are plenty of threads here that are sorted because a poster knew better than the so-called immigration expert. As you say caveat emptor - this applies to everything on the interweb. Beanb41 Posted July 22, 2019 #37 Share Posted July 22, 2019 Aus Traveller One cannot assume that a poster has done any research at all prior to asking their question, many of which have been answered many times on different threads if one chose to look through the previous threads. Some posters will do some research, some will do a lot and some will do nothing and expect others to do the work for them.
Missmiaow Posted December 17, 2019 Author #38 Share Posted December 17, 2019 On 6/29/2019 at 4:58 PM, Tigerlily75 said: I emailed the NZ High Commission about their very confusing wording. They responded that if you are an Australian Citizen travelling on an Australian passport (meeting character requirements of course) you do not need a NZeTA when travelling by cruise ship. The webpage I had included in the email was then updated, however other pages still have the confusing wording. To to clarify the confusing wording, it originally said Under “Who does NOT need an ETA” - Australian citizens travelling on an Australian passport Then under “Who DOES need an ETA” - passengers travelling by cruise ship REGARDLESS of nationality So which is it, I asked them. They need to be more concise with something so important. Thanks. That was exactly the issue and you’ve cleared it up perfectly.
