EllieinNJ Posted July 1, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2019 Our cruise on Crown Princess will be in Dublin overnight and leave next day at 3:30pm. We already have a full day tour of Wicklow and Dublin for day 1. Any suggestions for day 2 or should we just make it a sea day and stay on ship seeing we leave so early? DogLover Posted July 1, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2019 What exactly will you be touring in Dublin proper on the first day? There are numerous things to do on the second day depending on your interests and mobility. We spent 2 days prior and one day after our cruise in Dublin and still didn't see it all. I personally wouldn't want to miss a partial day in Dublin to just hang on the ship ... Ireland is magical. With a bit more specific information, I'd be happy to make some suggestions 🙂

I mean yeah, you'd have to be headed back by 2-2:30 from the city center but thats plenty of time to wake up and go see some things, have a nice lunch, and then head back to the ship.
green cruiser Posted July 3, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2019 Is it possible that you depart @ 5:30?
EllieinNJ Posted July 3, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted July 3, 2019 No. It's 3:30pm. That means we 1have to be on board board latest 3 PM. Which means we have to catch the shuttle back no later than 2pm.
BLine Posted July 4, 2019 #6 Share Posted July 4, 2019 Depends what interests you, there is the Guinness experience but I preferred the Kilmainham Gaol (old prison) both best booked in advance. Sometimes it’s just as easy to wander about, go shopping and perhaps see the Molly Malone statue, cross the ha’penny bridge, visit a pub and so on. Please don’t waste the day on the ship. ducklite Posted July 4, 2019 #7 Share Posted July 4, 2019 MY top three things to do in Dublin are the Little Museum of Dublin, the GPO exhibit, and EPIC, in no particular order.
zaks pack4 Posted July 5, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 5, 2019 For our 2nd day in Dublin, we booked our only Princess excursion "Dublin Highlights" for 8am - 12 noon, and seems to hit all the major sights in Dublin (Trinity College, St. Patricks, etc). Although we probably will not be long at each stop (this is a short day), and our 1st day in Dublin is an all-day private tour to Wicklow and Glendalough, Powerscourt, etc, we did want to see the city itself. We used OBC for this one.

This time we would like to do something different. Could you please tell us who is the private tour company you booked with to WIcklow and Glendalough? Thank you. Enjoy your trip. zaks pack4 Posted July 5, 2019 #10 Share Posted July 5, 2019 gam888: our private tour is with a company called Tours by Locals (this trip is called Dublin Wicklow Private Tour). There is a flat fee for the day and our trip has a max of 6 people sharing the cost. It promises to be a lovely day. If you Google "Tours by Locals", it seems this company pops up in every country on this itinerary. Enjoy your trip also. This will be our first time visiting the British Isles and we are very excited!
gfkcruiser Posted July 6, 2019 #11 Share Posted July 6, 2019 Do not stay on the ship. Just to wander around Dublin is wonderful. Always something to see.
Rare geoherb Posted July 7, 2019 #12 Share Posted July 7, 2019 It depends on what your first day's tour includes. There are the Book of Kells, Dublin Castle, St. Patrick's, National Museum, Guinness Storehouse, Irish Whiskey Museum, National Gallery, etc.
EllieinNJ Posted July 8, 2019 Author #13 Share Posted July 8, 2019 Thanks everyone. I guess we'll just play it by ear and see how we feel that morning. Now probably will take the shuttle into Dublin.
