Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted July 8, 2019 #1 Share Posted July 8, 2019 I recently shared an article and when posted, it has lines through the words. Why are there lines?

Why are there lines? First, a tip. When you post a question like this that refers to a problem in another thread, it would be helpful to the people trying to help you if you would include a link to the thread in question, instead of requiring folks to search for it. I assume you mean your post 188 in the thread below. Apparently, you didn't just "share" an article, you actually copied and pasted a Wikipedia article (rather than just posting the link to the article in your comment). My guess would be that the formatting of (or hidden metadata in) the document text that you copied, when plugged into the CC reply box, produced those deleted lines. (Did you first create any of your post in a Word document?) I haven't ever seen this before here, and I wouldn't worry about it. But I would stop pasting in articles and use their links instead. (Keep doing that, and you may well run into copyright violations.) Edited July 8, 2019 by Turtles06

Rare broberts Posted July 8, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2019 When pasting from external sources it helps to paste as plain text (Ctrl+Shift+V). This removes the formatting applied at the source with the formatting active in your post.
TxCityKat Posted July 8, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 8, 2019 From the Community Guidelines: Copyright Infringement The posting of blocks of text obtained from anywhere on the Internet, online newspapers, web sites, Facebook and other social media sites, magazines, etc., defeats the purpose of our Cruise Boards. All of this information is available to everyone online, and doesn't add to the idea of sharing firsthand experiences and cruise advice. Also, the majority of information out there is protected by an author's individual copyright. Therefore, we will remove such information from the message boards. However, linking via url to the information is allowed. The one exception to this would be Cruise Line press releases. You may post these word for word on the boards, if you clearly indicate the source.
