LeesaB Posted July 16, 2019 #76 Share Posted July 16, 2019 That's too bad about Moderno. I've been a bit underwhelmed about the actual quality/taste of the meat, but the sheer variety of food there has always made up for it. Unless something is way undercooked - that's just gross. We have gone to Moderno on at least 8 occasions, and never had this problem in meat quality/doneness. Hopefully it is a one -time occurrence on this one ship. I guess it will depend on what restaurants are offered on the ship we are sailing. 12 hours ago, david_sobe said: I do agree paying attention to detail helps any company or business especially cruise lines. I know the Dawn sails the Caribbean frequently but each boarding photo should reflect the itinerary you sail. Its a tiny detail but just makes the boarding photo reflect the sailing. I always thought Moderno was over-rated. But not having a supervisor around is a sign of poor management. As I mentioned above, first bad experience in Moderno. There were other little things that struck me on this cruise as being slightly off. 6 hours ago, LeesaB said: That's too bad about Moderno. shadowmeboy Posted July 17, 2019 Author #81 Share Posted July 17, 2019 (edited) Looking down on the Atrium from deck 10 where our stateroom was. So we missed breakfast in the MDR by like 10 minutes. MDR breakfast was open from 730a to 930a. On a Sea Day, I would want it open slightly later, especially if you are changing time zones like we did. Oh well, we headed to O'Sheehans Bar and Grill for breakfast. Menu Susan got a create Your Own Omelet and French Toast I also got a create Your Own Omelet Afterwards, we headed to the Cruise Critic Meet & Greet. We had a light participation on our Roll Call, but had about 20 signup. Unfortunately, We had very light attendance, and the officers did not stick around even to introduce themselves, except the General Manager Tony Winkler. List of Officers Soapbox Time: Please be an active participant in your Roll Call and if you sign up to attend the Meet and Greet, that one of your fellow Cruise Critic members organize on their own time, please make it a point to show up and arrive on time. Plus, you often get to meet officers in a more casual environment and put a name to a face, in case you have a problem onboard. Rant over. shadowmeboy Posted July 17, 2019 Author #82 Share Posted July 17, 2019 (edited) Dawn Casino I headed up to the stateroom to elevate my leg, because it was hurting so bad at this point. Plus there wasn't much going on that afternoon, and nothing I really wanted to do. A nap and elevation were in order. Susan meanwhile attended a Sushi and Teppanyaki demonstration in the Atrium. Later that afternoon, it was time to start getting ready for pictures and dinner. We got an invite to the VIP party, so that was also on tap. My beautiful Wife! Tonight's professional pictures. Captain's photo with Captain Borg. This night was a great photo night! Calm seas tonight. Edited July 17, 2019 by shadowmeboy

shadowmeboy Posted July 19, 2019 Author #88 Share Posted July 19, 2019 (edited) Pier 21 building We were planning on going here later in the day if we had time. The first stop was supposed to be the citadel. Unfortunately, more pressing matters took precedence. We got in a cab and headed to the walk-in medical clinic at Scotia Square. After $100 CAD, a prescription antibiotic, and two hours, we were finally free with the diagnosis of a leg infection. They bandaged and wrapped my left leg and off we went. Trace had had a leg infection a bit more serious a few months prior and was still on the mend. So the joke became that we so alike that we had to have similar leg injuries. Needless to say, I wasn't feeling 100% and I would do as much as I could and that would have to suffice. Once we were done with the clinic and pharmacy, we decided it was time for lunch and headed to the waterfront. We decided on the Waterfront Warehouse for lunch. Hi Lobsters! I am going to have some of you for lunch! It was a little cool outside, so we sat inside! Menu Susan got Lobster Mac'N'Cheese Trace, our non seafood lover, got a cheeseburger. Quinoa Salad 'Lobster Roll for Matthew!!!!!!! For Dessert, it was time to try the famous Beavertails!!! We got the Triple Trip - Beavertail with Chocolate Hazelnut Spread (Nutella), Peanut Butter, and Reese's Pieces Candies. It was so good. Susan and I shared one! PortFees45 Posted July 19, 2019 #91 Share Posted July 19, 2019 The Canadian healthcare system seems so civilized. In America, even for a citizen, that visit probably would have cost you close to $1000 without insurance...or if you have insurance but haven't hit your deductible. Such a shame that our healthcare system is still controlled by for-profit insurance companies and the politicians in their pocket.
shadowmeboy Posted July 19, 2019 Author #94 Share Posted July 19, 2019 Pausing from the review with this post. I want to wish Susan a very Happy Birthday today. We are going to a Seattle Mariners game tonight for her Birthday, so I do not know how much I will be able to post of Halifax till we get back tomorrow. I will be able to reply to questions and comments if you have any.

I’m not shadowmeboy, obviously, but I asked this in the past, sometimes the person who organizes the meet and greet is given VIP privileges. Not always. A happy surprise when it happens.
