WELDON Posted July 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2019 You will be able to eat when you board. There should be several options available. Some suggestions for things to do are the aquarium, crystal caves, go to Hamilton, visit the Lili perfume factory, St. George, St. Catherine's fort. Can't answer your question about dining but I know on other cruise lines, the excursion desk opens after the ship sails.
marvalpert Posted July 20, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted July 20, 2019 THANK YOU! much appreciated! any other hints about this cruise or ship? WHat is the "ROLL CALL" thing?
Rare Turtles06 Posted July 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2019 OP: this is the forum for asking general cruise questions. Your questions are specific to NCL and to Bermuda. For those, you should post in the NCL forum and the Ports of Call/Bermuda forum, respectively: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/64-norwegian-cruise-line/ https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/118-bermuda/ Roll Calls are threads of cruisers on the same sailing; a good place to discuss shore excursions, etc. You will find the Gem Roll Calls here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/307-norwegian-gem-roll-calls/ May I suggest that you spend some time familiarizing yourself with the various forums on Cruise Critic (start on the home Categories page, where they are all listed); I think you would find that very helpful. Enjoy your cruise!
WatchHill Posted July 20, 2019 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2019 If you're not into real golf, you can walk over to Fun Golf at the Dockyard, even have a beverage at the 19th hole. Check out the Crystal Caves, ice cream at Bailey's, visit the aquarium and no trip to Bermuda is complete without a stop at the original Swizzle Inn. We reserved and rented Twizy's in Hamilton, keeping them for 2 nights. Charging stations are all around the island, and at the Dockyard. This gave us great latitude in exploring the island and not having to wait for a bus. They will load an App onto your iphone which you can plug into a USB port in the vehicle - it works like a GPS. marvalpert Posted July 20, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted July 20, 2019 is it MINI GOLF? where is the "DOCKYARD"?
WatchHill Posted July 20, 2019 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2019 (edited) 5 minutes ago, marvalpert said: is it MINI GOLF? where is the "DOCKYARD"? Fun Golf is at the Dockyard, adjacent to Snorkel Park. It's layout mirrors famous PGA holes, especially those in Bermuda. I play both real golf and mini - this is super fun and the holes are challenging. We always save this for our last day on the island, due to the ship's schedule leaving early afternoon. However, you can also play at night. The Dockyard is where the GEM ties up. SbbquilterUT Posted July 20, 2019 #9 Share Posted July 20, 2019 We played two rounds of golf and really enjoyed it! Tee times were made in advance via internet, cab from the pier to the course was easy.
WatchHill Posted July 20, 2019 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2019 (edited) There's an electric train shuttle that picks up cruise passengers FREE at the pier and goes around the dock yard, stopping at multiple locations, including the entrance to the Snorkel Park where you enter for Fun Golf. No need for a cab when it's less than a 5 minute walk....unless you are heading to one of the signature private public courses on the island.
