scarlet ohara Posted August 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Just had an email from P&O to say that our cruise from Dubai to Malta in March is cancelled. Oceana cruises in the Gulf are all cancelled from October
Rare Presto2 Posted August 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Oh no ! What a shame and disappointment for everyone who has booked her. Better safe than sorry I suppose. Any idea where they are going to send her ?
eddie11 Posted August 7, 2019 #3 Share Posted August 7, 2019 That’s a shame for you Hope you can find a suitable alternative
July morning Posted August 7, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2019 We were booked on Oceana for January, Dubai and India and have also received the cancellation email. They have said cruises on Oceana shall be available to book from the 20 August sailing from Southampton to Canary Islands and 35 night to the Caribbean. If people still want to go to Dubai you can book with sister brands Aida and Costa 20% off with Costa but we won't be doing that. Shall start looking for an alternative. Purdey16 Posted August 7, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2019 I've just logged on to my cruise personaliser and found our cruise cancelled which was on November 11th and a full refund to be given ( don't know how long that will take) we were really looking forward to it but better safe than sorry , I just now have to cancel all my private excursions I booked up prior to staying in Dubai for two days before the cruise , I'll just have to find another cruise for that week

Info given by large cruise company- Oceana’s new programme will include sailings from Southampton to Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands, as well as a pre-Christmas 35-night cruise to the Caribbean. This will be available to book from 20 August 2019 at 9am. Edited August 7, 2019 by majortom10

It was quite sad and her horn 'toot' really did sound sad. It will be nice to have her back. Must be a logistical nightmare for the cruise line though at relatively short notice. Walnut whip Posted August 7, 2019 #9 Share Posted August 7, 2019 very disappointing but suspected it would come. I hate 'giving in' to foreign aggressors and terrorists, it really goes against the grain. Doubt we'll book one of Oceana's new cruises. Iberia (again!) in January is not exactly a like for like alternative!

We generally do not cruise in Winter period and even then not being a great lover of Oceana would not be interested in booking anything.
yorkshirephil Posted August 7, 2019 #12 Share Posted August 7, 2019 We will certainly be watching the 35 nighter to the Caribbean, we did this in Feb 2017 and loved it, hoping for a good deal?
Flowerpower22 Posted August 7, 2019 #13 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Oh no - not had the email yet but I guess it's coming. We were really looking forward to the Suez. I don't intend to sail from Southampton as I don't enjoy the Bay of Biscay. Better get looking for something else.
BrianI Posted August 7, 2019 #14 Share Posted August 7, 2019 I would think that there would be some very attractive prices to fill the ship in such a short time. Brian
Britboys Posted August 7, 2019 #15 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Are those affected being given first chance to book the new itineraries? Or is that too much to ask of P&O... Unfortunately, Oceana is not the best of ships for inclement weather. She has great open decks for good weather though.
Milliemoominmoo Posted August 7, 2019 #16 Share Posted August 7, 2019 I wonder if this will carry onto Arcadia who’s also scheduled to visit in 2020? 😞
Cathygh Posted August 7, 2019 #17 Share Posted August 7, 2019 Does any one know when the new itineraries will be released? Will there any more info before 20 Aug? Thanks
Paul1924 Posted August 7, 2019 #18 Share Posted August 7, 2019 yes had the email not a happy bunny but nothing we can do dont fancy Spain or the med they say they are offering 10% discount on Caribbean fly cruises but its only a short window and also i believe if you book Dubai in 2020 wont be doing that i only booked to have the 22 days malta-Venice-malta -suez oman and dubai it was suez that really interested us. just looked at the baltic but sept oct brrrrr
bodgerday Posted August 7, 2019 #19 Share Posted August 7, 2019 I am gutted, but this is totally expected. No compensation to be given. As a goodwill gesture, perhaps P&O would give a bigger cabin spend or nice discount on Oceana's alternative sailings. If so I might be tempted to do the Canary Islands. Teabelly69 Posted August 7, 2019 #20 Share Posted August 7, 2019 We were booked in Feb, would consider re booking for Feb 2021 but are already booked on Iona to canaries and will probably still have to pay £100 transfer charge to swop that one. Gutted!

We are now trying to look for another cruise or holiday to fit in our dates but not too upset about it all as we have a cruise to look forward to on Sept 6th to Norway but I really feel sorry for the people who have been looking forward all year for this , I half expected this would be cancelled and p & o have done the right thing

silversurf Posted August 7, 2019 #24 Share Posted August 7, 2019 What happens to your travel insurance if you have booked single trip? We haven’t booked an Oceana cruise but if we had our insurance would have been over £600. Do P and O compensate you for this?
cruiser man 60 Posted August 7, 2019 #25 Share Posted August 7, 2019 It's only P&O who have cancelled, all other cruise lines are still going with FCO advice being safe to travel.
