Multiple countries on cruise - passports!

Our ship was boarded by immigration who looked at all passports in the pursers office and we were able to just get off onto the tenders and come ashore.  I do have a stamp from Croatia, actually a few of them.

We didn't, it was all handled by the ship.

I did port stops in Croatia last month...Dubrovnik and Zadar...and in neither place did we have to show passports. Our ship made no mention of needing to have them. I checked with my husband in case my memory was faulty and he agreed, no need to have passports ashore.
