MarAgnew Posted August 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2019 (edited) We’re taking an independent excursion for the Bay of Islands in New Zealand from the Ovation of the Seas and we were wondering if anybody could comment on how long the tendering waits might be. Thanks. Edited August 13, 2019 by MarAgnew Clarification
Rare lyndarra Posted August 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2019 On Ovation you will need a numbered tender ticket and then you wait until your batch number is called. To get your ticket, an issue time and place is announced the night before for the next morning. If you want to get off early get to the issue place well in advance of the announced time. The queue will be looooooooooooooong. IIRC the people handing out the ticket would limit the number they would give out, I think it was 2 per person. One morning there was only one person giving out tickets until voices of complaint started getting louder and louder until a second person was assigned. Once the tenders started running the offloading went off reasonably quickly.

Thanks. Ships tours will get priority on the tenders, so be prepared for a wait. Above all, enjoy. Edited August 14, 2019 by NSWP
banzaii Posted August 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2019 From memory, the tender trip itself at Bay of Islands was about 15-20 minutes.
Chiliburn Posted August 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted August 15, 2019 In February there was a line in the promenade one and a half times the length of the ship to get on the tenders. we got near the boarding are about 10:00 and thought it’s another half hour boat ride. And the same coming back so we gave up and went and watched a movie in 270. Unless you have a suite (you can jump the line) or a tour through the ship it’s unpredictable.
